16、the stringent requirements oftough touring applications. They are protec-ted against over-temperature, overload,shorted outputs, radio frequency interferenceand DC faults. The power transistors areprotected from damage from reverse feedingof electrical energy by means of an additionalspecial protect

17、ive circuit. For the so-calledsoft-start, the power outputs are switched ondelayed via relays. An inrush current limitercircuit prevents the mains fuses from beingblown. Maximum precision is also guaranteed asregards mechanical construction and finish.The robust steel chassis features remarkab-le to

18、rsion resistance and is specially de-signed to cope with the tough wear and tearassociated with going on tour. Thermalstability is guaranteed by several low noise3-stage fans which also means that they canbe used inside the studio.Comparator cir-cuits constantly compare the power ampli-fiers input a

19、nd output signal and control thelimiters under non-linear operating conditi-ons. They protect the loudspeakers fromoverload due to power stage clipping. ThePRECISION SERIES power amplifiers fea-ture excellent transmission properties. Thepower amplifier topology also makes forextremely low distortion

20、 rates. Distortion fac-tor (THD), intermodulation distortion(SMPTE-IM) and transient intermodulationdistortion (DIM 30 and DIM 100) are so lowthat they are only detectable with the mostsophisticated measuring equipment. Gene-rously dimensioned power supplies with low-leakage toroidal-core transforme

21、rs provideconsiderable headroom well above the no-minal ratings. V/I foldback limiter circuitswere deliberately not included in the PRE-CISION SERIES power amplifiers to facilita-te operation at complex loads up to a phaseangle of +/- 90.The inputs are electronicallybalanced on XLR connectors. (Isol

22、ationtransformers can be retrofitted). Direct Outsin the form of XLR connectors (male), to loopthe signal through, are also standard featu-res. The frontpanel accommodates the dB-calibrated inputGain controls which are designed as espe-cially precise and safe-to-operate detentedpotentiometers. The LED display providesinformation about

24、 the power amplifers ope-rating status. For the two channels, theydemonstrate readiness to operate, whetherthere is a signal at the input or output, whenthe Limiters have been activated and whetherone of the protective features has beentriggered. The power outputs Channel A,Channel B and Bridged Out

25、 are available onSpeakon connectors. The rear side of the unitaccommodates the ON/OFF switches for theintegrated Hi and Lo cut filters, a groundliftswitch which separates the housing from thecircuit ground thus helping to prevent humloops and the operating modes selector tomono bridged operation.
