9、tThe amplifier can be driven to full output from any sourcedeveloping 200 mV across one of the Hi-Z inputs. Wire a single-conductor, low-capacity shielded input cable to a standardphono plug (Cinch 18A, or equivalent) and connect to one of theHi-Z jacks on the rear of the chassis. Amplifiers may als

10、o beconnected in parallel by connecting a patch cord from Hi-Zinput to Hi-Z input of the amplifiers without loss of gain.Low impedance inputThe amplifier will match a low-impedance (500/600 ohm)source if a Bogen Model TL-600 transformer is installed insocket Xl on the circuit board. Connect a twiste

11、d, shielded pair(Bogen BB-8450, or equiv.) input cable to the BAL INPUTLOW Z terminal strip on the rear of the unit. Use the twooutside terminals on the strip for input and connect the cableshield to the GND terminal. If an unbalanced input is required,connect a jumper from the GND terminal to an ad

13、 gain. To do this, install a Bogen Model TLlOOtransformer in socket Xl. Connect the 6OOa source to the BALLOW Z terminal strip on the rear of the unit. Use the twooutside terminals on the strip and connect the cable shields tothe GND terminal. If an unbalanced input is required, connect ajumper from

14、 the GND terminal to an adjacent input terminal.Input from another amplifierThe amplifier can be driven from a standard public addressamplifier that provides a 25-volt or 70-volt constant voltageoutput. To do this, connect the output of the amplifier to one ofthe Hi-Z INPUT jacks via a resistor netw

15、ork (see figure 1). 18、eration, connect the speakerleads to the 70V and COM terminals on the rear of the unit. Ifgrounding is required, connect the link from COM to GND.25V constant-voltage outputFor 25V constant-voltage unbalanced operation, connect thespeaker leads to 25V and COM, leaving the link connectedbetween COM a

19、nd GND. For balanced operation, open the linkbetween COM 1 and GND. If the output transformer center tapmust be grounded, connect a jumper between 25VCT and GND.CONNECTING AMPLIFIERS IN SERIESCAUTIONConnect only amplifiers of the same model inseries; do not mix different amplifier types.Bogen MTl25B

20、 or MT60A amplifiers may be connected inseries to increase total power output where absolutely necessaryto a single speaker line. Typical output connections are shown inTable 2. Note: GND straps on all except AMP I must be opened.Input connectionsIf the amplifier Hi-Z inputs are being driven directl

21、y, simplyparallel the amplifier Hi-Z inputs with a phono patch cord, andconnect the input line to one amplifier. When a balanced inputtransformer is being used, parallel the inputs at the screwterminals.Level control adjustmentIt is extremely important that the amplifiers have the samegain and produ

22、ce equal power output. This adjustment is mosteasily accomplished by setting both amplifier level controls tomaximum and then providing an external gain control as shownin figure 2. Make sure speech filter switches are in the sameposition. If an external control cannot be provided, amplifiergain mus

23、t be set with the use of an external tone source,adjusting the amplifiers to produce the same output with inputsparalleled. Always keep level controls at approximately thesame position even when setting up the amplifiers.CONNECTING AMPLIFIERS IN PARALLELIt is not recommended that amplifiers be conne

24、cted inparallel. However, this is sometimes unavoidable. If the breaker resets and thenopens again, investigate the cause of the high temperatureoverload. This ma

27、y be due to improper connections at theoutput terminals or to excessive environmental heat withinadequate ventilation. Apolarized plug is supplied with the amplifier for making DCconnections. Connect DC cable to source

29、, making certain toobserve proper polarity. An isolation diode should be used inseries with the DC supply as in figure 3.OPERATIONVOLUME CONTROLA volume control located on the rear of the unit is usedprimarily to compensate for variations in preamplifier outputlevels. The VOLUME control permits the

30、gain of the amplifierto be preset so that the preamplifier volume control may beoperated near the center of its range, rather than at an extrememaximum or minimum. The VOLUME control is a screwdriveradjustment which needs to be set only once for any givenpreamplifier input.DC POWER OPERATIONWhen the

31、 amplifier is operated from a DC power source, theAC power switch and AC power indicator lamp will beinoperative. Turn the amplifier on and off from the powerswitch on the DC power supply or by inserting and removing theDC power leads on the rear of the unit.AC OPERATIONThere are two overload protec

32、tive devices used with ACoperation, the circuit breaker and the temperature overloadthermal breaker.AC circuit breakerIf the circuit breaker opens, the AC power lamp will go outand the amplifier will have no output. Set the AC power switchto off and momentarily depress the red button on the circuitb

33、reaker to reset it. Return the AC power switch to on. If thebreaker trips again, do not attempt to reset it but have thetrouble investigated by a qualified technician.MAINTENANCECA UTIONThere are no user-replaceable parts within theunit. Have all internal servicing done by aqualified technician.BOGE

34、N SERVICEWe are interested in your Bogen equipment for as long as youhave it. If trouble ever develops, do not hesitate to ask ouradvice or assistance. Information can be obtained by writing toService Department, Bogen Division, P.O. Box 500, Paramus,N.J. 07652.When communicating with us, give the m

35、odel and seriesdesignation of your unit. Describe the difficulty and includedetails on the electrical connections to and the types ofassociated equipment, such as preamplifier, speakers, etc. Wewill send you service information if the trouble appears simple.If the trouble requires servicing, we will

36、 send you the name andaddress of the nearest authorized Bogen service agency.Before returning any equipment to Bogen, contact the BogenService Department at the above address. If you do ship theunit, pack it carefully to avoid damage in transit. Send the unitfully insured and prepaid. It will be pro

37、mptly repaired andreturned to you freight collect.REPLACEMENT PARTSMost components used in the amplifier are standard partsavailable through reputable parts suppliers. The parts listedhere may be obtained from Bogen distributors, service agenciesor directly from the factory. When ordering a part, sp

38、ecify thepart number and the description of the part as listed. Specify themodel of the unit and give the series designation, which is a letterfollowed by numbers, stamped on the chassis. For parts oncircuit boards, also give the component board assemblynumber, which begins with “45”.When replacing

39、transistors, use those made by the manu-facturers specified. Transistors from other suppliers may not besatisfactory. Certain resistors must be Allen-Bradley. These aredesignated by “AB” on the schematic diagram.Replacing transistorsIf a transistor must be unsoldered for testing or replacement,be ce

40、rtain to remove all power from the unit to prevent possiblevoltage transients in the circuit which might damage thetransistor. To prevent overheating the transistor when solderingor unsoldering a lead, grip the lead between the point of heatand the case with pliers or tweezers. These will act as a h

41、eat sinkto conduct heat away from the transistor. Do not bend atransistor lead closer than 1 / 16” from the transistor case.4Power transistors must be properly mounted to insure goodheat dissipation. Make certain there is no foreign matter on thecontact surfaces between the transistor and the heat s

42、ink andbrush a thin coating of heat transfer compound (such as DowCorning No. 340 Compound silicon grease) on both surfaces.Similarly coat any insulators used between the transistor andthe heat sink and secure the transistor firmly to the heat sink.SchematicRef.
