When replacing a component identified with, use only the

4、replacement parts designated, or parts with the same ratings or resistance, wattage, or voltage that are designated in theparts list in this manual. Leakage-current or resistance measurements must be made to determine that exposed parts are acceptablyinsulated from the supply circuit before retuming

5、 the product to the customer.Some semiconductor (solid state) devices can be damaged easily by static electricity. Such components commonly are calledElectrostatically Sensitive (ES) Devices. Examples of typical ES devices are integrated circuits and some field effect transistors andsemiconductor ch

6、ip components.The following techniques should be used to help reduce the incidence of component damage caused by static electricity.1. Immediately before handling any semiconductor component or semiconductor-equipped assembly, drain off any electrostatic charge onyour body by touching a known earth

7、ground. Alternatively, obtain and wear a commercially available discharging wrist strap device,which should be removed for potential shock reasons prior to applying power to the unit under test.2. After removing an electrical assembly equipped with ES devices, place the assembly on a conductive surf

8、ace such as aluminum foil, toprevent electrostatic charge build-up or exposure of the assembly.3. Use only a grounded-tip soldering iron to solder or unsolder ES devices.4. Use only an anti-static solder removal device. Some solder removal devices not classified as anti-static can generate electrica

9、l chargessufficient to damage ES devices.5. Do not use freon-propelled chemicals. These can generate electrical change sufficient to damage ES devices.6. Do not remove a replacement ES device from its protective package until immediately before you are ready to install it. (Most replacementES device

10、s are packaged with leads electrically shorted together by conductive foam, aluminum foil or comparable conductive material.)7. Immediately before removing the protective material from the leads of a replacement ES device, touch the protective material to thechassis or circuit assembly into which th

11、e device will be installed.Be sure no power is applied to the chassis or circuit, and observe all other safety precautions.8. Minimize bodily motions when handling unpackaged replacement ES devices. (Otherwise harmless motion such as the brushing togetheror your clothes fabric or the lifting of your

13、ion of the customer and service technician.LEAKAGE CURRENT CHECKMeasure leakage current to a known earth ground (waterpipe, conduit, etc.) by connecting a leakage current testerbetween the earth ground and all exposed metal parts of theappliance (input/output terminals, screwheads, metaloverlays, co

14、ntrol shaft, etc.). Plug the AC line cord of theappliance directly into a 120V AC 60Hz outlet and turn theAC power switch on. When the switch is pressedin, the unit is in a Standby mode, as indicated by theamber LED 2 above the Standby/On

27、 Switch 3.This button MUST be pressed in to operate the unit.To turn the unit off and prevent the use of the remotecontrol, this switch should be pressed until it popsout from the front panel and the word “OFF” is seenat the top of the switch.NOTE: This switch is normally left in the “ON” position.2

28、 Power Indicator: This LED lights amber when theunit is in the Standby mode to signal that the AVR isready to be turned on.When the unit is in operation,the indicator is blue.3 Standby/On Switch: When the Main PowerSwitch 1 is “ON,” press this button to turn on theAVR 140; press it again to turn the

29、 unit off.The PowerIndicator 3 turns blue when the unit is on.4 Headphone Jack: This jack may be used to listento the AVR 140s output through a pair of headphones.The speakers will automatically be turned off when theheadphone jack is in use.5 Tone Mode: This button controls the tone modesettings, e

30、nabling adjustment of the bass and trebleboost/cut.You may also use it to take the tone con-trols out of the signal path completely for “flat”response.The first press of the button displays aTONE IN message in the Lower Display Line and in the on-screen display.To take the controlsout of the signal

31、path, press either of the /Buttons ) until the display reads TONE OUT.To change the bass or treble settings, make sure thatTONE IN appears in the Lower Display Line or press either of the / Buttons ) until it does.Press the Tone Mode Button 5 until the desiredoption of TREBLE MODE or BASS MODEappear

However,when listening to surround materials and most two-channel materials, it is recommended that you leavethese settings at the results obtained during the config-uration process described on pages 15 through 24.6 Speaker Selector: Press this button to b

40、he button is pressed so that the name of thesurround mode group appears in the on-screen dis-play and in the Lower Display Line , press theSurround Mode Selector 8 to cycle through theindividual modes available. For example, press thisbutton to select Dolby modes, and then press theSurround Mode Sel

41、ector 8 to choose from thevarious Dolby mode options.8 Surround Mode Selector: Press this button to select from among the available surround modeoptions for the mode group selected.The specificmodes will vary based on the number of speakersavailable, the mode group and if the input source isdigital

42、or analog. For example, press the SurroundMode Group Selector 7 to select a main modegrouping such as Dolby or Logic 7, and then pressthis button to see the specific mode choices available.Note that the digital surround modes, such as DolbyDigital and DTS, may not be accessed unless that typeof sour

43、ce signal is present, such as when a DVD movieor television signal programmed in Dolby Digital or DTSsurround sound is playing. For more information on sur-round mode selection, see pages 18 and 26.9 Tuning Selector: Press the left side of the buttonto tune lower-frequency stations and the right sid

44、e ofthe button to tune higher-frequency stations.When thetuner is in the Manual mode, each tap will increase ordecrease the frequency by one increment.When thetuner receives a strong enough signal for adequatereception, MANUAL TUNED will appear in theon-screen display and the Lower Display Line.When

45、 the tuner is the Auto mode, press the buttononce, and the tuner will scan for a station with accept-able signal strength.When the next station with astrong signal is tuned the scan will stop and the on-screen display and Lower Display Linewill indicate AUTO TUNED.When an FM Stereo station is tuned,

46、 the display will read AUTO ST TUNED.To switch back and forth between the Auto andManual tuning modes, press the Tuner ModeSelector &.)/Buttons: When configuring the AVR 140ssettings,use these buttons to select from the availablechoices.!
