When replacing a component identified with, use only the replacement parts design

4、ated, or parts with the same ratings or resistance, wattage, or voltage that are designated in theparts list in this manual. Leakage-current or resistance measurements must be made to determine that exposed parts are acceptablyinsulated from the supply circuit before retuming the product to the cust

5、omer.Some semiconductor (solid state) devices can be damaged easily by static electricity. Such components commonly are calledElectrostatically Sensitive (ES) Devices. Examples of typical ES devices are integrated circuits and some field effect transistors andsemiconductor chip components.The follow

6、ing techniques should be used to help reduce the incidence of component damage caused by static electricity.1. Immediately before handling any semiconductor component or semiconductor-equipped assembly, drain off any electrostatic charge onyour body by touching a known earth ground. Alternatively, o

7、btain and wear a commercially available discharging wrist strap device,which should be removed for potential shock reasons prior to applying power to the unit under test.2. After removing an electrical assembly equipped with ES devices, place the assembly on a conductive surface such as aluminum foi

8、l, toprevent electrostatic charge build-up or exposure of the assembly.3. Use only a grounded-tip soldering iron to solder or unsolder ES devices.4. Use only an anti-static solder removal device. Some solder removal devices not classified as anti-static can generate electrical chargessufficient to d

9、amage ES devices.5. Do not use freon-propelled chemicals. These can generate electrical change sufficient to damage ES devices.6. Do not remove a replacement ES device from its protective package until immediately before you are ready to install it. (Most replacementES devices are packaged with lead

10、s electrically shorted together by conductive foam, aluminum foil or comparable conductive material.)7. Immediately before removing the protective material from the leads of a replacement ES device, touch the protective material to thechassis or circuit assembly into which the device will be install

11、ed.Be sure no power is applied to the chassis or circuit, and observe all other safety precautions.8. Minimize bodily motions when handling unpackaged replacement ES devices. (Otherwise harmless motion such as the brushing togetheror your clothes fabric or the lifting of your foot from a carpeted fl

Inspect all lead dress to make certain thatleads are not pinched or that hardware is notlodged between

13、the chassis and other metalpartsintheunit.2. Be sure that any protective devices such asnonmetallic control knobs, insulating fish-papers,cabinetbacks,adjustmentandcompartment covers or shields, isolationresistor-capacitynetworks,mechanicalinsulators, etc. Which were removed for theservicingareprope

14、rlyre-installed.Before returning the unit to the user, perform the following safety checks :3. Be sure that no shock hazard exists ; check for leakagecurrentusingSimpsonModel229LeakageTester,standardequipment item No. 21641, RCA Model WT540A or usealternate method asfollows : Plug the power cord dir

15、ectlyInto a 120 volt AC receptacle (do not use an IsolationTransformer for this test). Using two clip leads, connect a1500ohms,10wattResistorparalleledbya0.15uFcapacitor,inserieswithallexposedmetalcabinetpartsandaknownearthground,suchas a water pipe or conduit. Use a VTVM or VOM with 1000 ohms per v

16、olt, or higher sensitivity to measure the AC voltage drop across theresistor. (See diagram) Move the resistor connection to each exposed metal part having a return path to the chassis (antenna, metal,cabinet,screwheads,knobsandcontrolshafts,escutcheon,etc.)andmeasuretheACvoltagedropacrosstheresistor

27、y the amber LED 3 sur-rounding the System Power Control 2.This button MUST be pressed in to operate theunit.To turn the unit off and prevent the useof the remote control, this switch should bepressed until it pops out from the front panelso that the word “OFF” may be read at thetop of the switch.NOT

28、E: This switch is normally left in the “ON”position.2 System Power Control: When the MainPower Switch 1 is “ON,” press this buttonto turn on the AVR 220; press it again to turnthe unit off. Note that the Power Indicator3 surrounding the switch will turn greenwhen the unit is on.3 Power Indicator: Th

29、is LED will be illumi-nated in amber when the unit is in the Standbymode to signal that the unit is ready to beturned on.When the unit is in operation, theindicator will turn green. Should the indicatorturn red, turn the unit off using the MainPower Switch 1 and check the speaker wireconnections to

30、make certain that there are noshort circuits.4 Headphone Jack:This jack may be used tolisten to the AVR 220s output through a pair ofheadphones. Be certain that the headphoneshave a standard 1/4 stereo phone plug. Notethat the main room speakers will automaticallybe turned off when the headphone jac

31、k is in use.5 Selector Buttons:When you are establish-ing the AVR 220s configuration settings,usethese buttons to select from the choices available,as shown in the Main Information Display .6 Tone Mode: Pressing this button enablesor disables the Bass and Treble tone controls.When the button is pres

32、sed so that the wordsTONE IN appear in the Main InformationDisplay , the settings of the Bass & andTreble ( controls may be used to adjust theoutput signals.When the button is pressed sothat the words TONE OUT appear in the MainInformation Display , the output signalwill be “flat, ” without any bass

36、the surround mode by scrollingthrough the list of available modes. Note thatdepending on the type of input, some modesare not always available. (See page 25 for moreinformation about surround modes.)8 Tuning Selector: Press the left side of thebutton to tune lower-frequency stations and theright sid

37、e of the button to tune higher-frequencystations.When a station with a strong signal is reached, the TUNED Indicator Q will be illuminated in the Main Information Display .To tune manually, tap the button lightly andnote that the tuner will step up one frequencyincrement per button press.When the bu

38、tton isheld for a few seconds you will note that theunit will quickly search the frequency band.Release it once the fast tuning starts; the tunerwill automatically scan for the next station withan acceptable signal and then stop.9 Tuner Band Selector: Pressing this buttonwill automatically switch th

39、e AVR 220 to theTuner mode. Pressing it again will switchbetween the AM and FM frequency bands. (Seepage 28 for more information on the tuner.) Preset Stations Selector: Press this button to scroll up or down through the list orstations that have been entered into the presetmemory. (See page 29 for

40、more information ontuner presets.)! Input Source Selector: Press this buttonto change the input by scrolling up or downthrough the list of input sources. FM Mode Selector: Press this button toselect Auto or Manual tuning.When the buttonis pressed so that the AUTO Indicator Rlights, the tuner will se

41、arch for the next stationwith an acceptable signal when the TuningSelector 8u is pressed.When the button ispressed so that the AUTO Indicator R is notlit, each press of the Tuning Selector 8uwill increase the frequency.This button may alsobe used to switch between Stereo and Monomodes for FM radio r

42、eception.When weakreception is encountered, press the button untilthe STEREO Indicator P goes out to switchto Mono reception. Press and hold again toswitch back to STEREO mode.
