When no signal is beingsent, the PS1400 wil

19、l remain instandby mode. When it sensesan audio signal, it willautomatically turn itself on andbegin playing. If the PS1400does not sense a signal forabout twenty minutes, it willswitch itself into standbymode. When this switch is left in the “On” position, thePS1400 will remain on, whetheror not pr

20、ogram material isplaying. LF Crossover Switch Thisswitch is used to engage thePS1400s internal crossoverwhen it is stacked with thePT800 tower module, and whenno external crossover is beingused. In the “Normal” position,the internal crossover isengaged, and provides anelectronic 130Hz crossover fort

21、he subwoofer which preciselymatches the passive 130Hzcrossover point of the outputterminal to the PT800. Thecrossover is precision-designed to create a smooth,integrated floorstandingspeaker system when thePS1400 and PT800 are stacked.In the “Separated” position,the PS1400 provides anelectronic 300H

22、z rolloff for thesubwoofer,which should beaugmented by the low-passcrossover in the externalaudio/video receiver orprocessor. In this mode, thePT800, whether or not it isstacked with the PS1400,should be given only a high-passed amplifier signal. Thatsignal should be crossed overat 80Hz. LF Level Co

23、ntrol Thiscontrol allows you to adjust thelevel of the subwoofer within arange of +/ 5dB. Start with thecontrol positioned at 0dB,which is flat (neutral basslevel). If bass response isunsatisfactory, due to eitheryour room acoustics or as amatter of taste, experimentwith this control until thedesire

24、d bass level is achieved. This control only affects allinformation being received bythe speaker-level input. Polarity (Phase) Switch Use the “Normal” positionwhenever the PS1400 and PT800are stacked and the internalcrossover is used. It shouldalso be used when an externalcrossover is used and allamp

25、lifier channels are in phase.The “Reverse” position may beused when the PS1400 andPT800 are separated, and dueto wave cancellation, bassresponse is improved in thisposition. “Reverse” may alsobe selected when differentamplifiers are used that have different polarityconfigurations.PERFORMANCESERIESCA

28、s in theMinimum position. With 5.1, 6.1or 7.1 source material playing,advance the LFE Level controlson both PS1400s slowly untilthe desired amount of effectschannel is present. The normalposition for this control is fullclockwise, with LFE adjust-ments being made via the leveladjustments on your pro

29、cessor.We have provided this controlbecause the LFE output level ofAV receivers and processorscan vary from manufacturer tomanufacturer. If you are using the third orfourth configurations, wherethe main speakers are con-figured as “Small” and all bassinformation is being sent to theLFE inputs of the

30、 PS1400s, theLFE Level control will operateon all low- frequency infor-mation, and not just for the .1channel effects. LFE/Subwoofer Input Thisjack accepts either an LFE orline-level output from thereceiver or processor. System Input Thesebinding posts accept a full-range, amplified (speaker-level)

31、output from the receiveror amplifier. This input shouldbe used whenever the PS1400and PT800 modules will bestacked and the internalcrossover used to form anintegrated floorstandingspeaker system. This inputshould be used in thatconfiguration even if the LFEinput will also be used. Power This is the

32、mainpower switch, which must beturned on for the amplifier andelectronic internal crossover tofunction. If you will be awayfrom home for an extendedperiod of time, or if the PS1400will not be used, turn thisswitch off to conserveelectricity.If there is no sound: Check that receiver/amplifier is on a

33、nd a source is playing. Check that the PS1400 is plugged in and its Power switch (8) is switched on. Check all wires and connections between receiver/amplifier and PS1400. Make sure all wires areconnected. Make sure none of the speaker wires are frayed, cut or punctured. Review proper operation of y

34、our receiver/amplifier.If there is low (or no) bass output: Make sure the connections to the left and right “Speaker Inputs” have the correct polarity (+ and ). Make sure the PS1400 is plugged into an active electrical outlet. Make sure the Power switch (8) is on. In Dolby Digital or DTS modes, make

35、 sure your receiver/processor is configured so that the subwooferand LFE output are enabled. Adjust the Polarity switch (4) if the PS1400 and PT800 are not stacked, or if they are stacked butan external crossover is being used. Adjust the LF Level control (3). If the LFE input is in use, adjust the
