6、ccurs when static electricity stored in the body, fabric, etc. is discharged, can destroy the laserdiode in the traverse unit (optical pickup). Take care to prevent this when performing repairs.1.2.1 Grounding to prevent damage by static electricityStatic electricity in the work area can destroy the

7、 optical pickup (laser diode) in devices such as CD players. Be careful to use proper grounding in the area where repairs are being performed. (1) Ground the workbenchGround the workbench by laying conductive material (such as a conductive sheet) or an iron plate over it before placing thetraverse u

8、nit (optical pickup) on it.(2) Ground yourselfUse an anti-static wrist strap to release any static electricity built up in your body. (3) Handling the optical pickup In order to maintain quality during transport and before installation, both sides of the laser diode on the replacement opticalpickup

9、are shorted. After replacement, return the shorted parts to their original condition. (Refer to the text.) Do not use a tester to check the condition of the laser diode in the optical pickup. The testers internal power source can easilydestroy the laser diode. 1.3Handling the traverse unit (optical

10、pickup)(1) Do not subject the traverse unit (optical pickup) to strong shocks, as it is a sensitive, complex unit. (2) Cut off the shorted part of the flexible cable using nippers, etc. after replacing the optical pickup. For specific details, refer to thereplacement procedure in the text. Remove th

11、e anti-static pin when replacing the traverse unit. Be careful not to take too long atime when attaching it to the connector. (3) Handle the flexible cable carefully as it may break when subjected to strong force. (4) It is not possible to adjust the semi-fixed resistor that adjusts the laser power.

12、 Do not turn it.1.4Attention when traverse unit is decomposed*Please refer to Disassembly method in the text for the CD pickup unit. Apply solder to the short land before the flexible wire is disconnected from the connector on the CD pickup unit. (If the flexible wire is disconnected without applyin

13、g solder, the CD pickup may be destroyed by static electricity.) 18、SECTION 3DISASSEMBLY3.1CD mechanism assembly3.1.1Removing the top cover (See Figs.1 and 2)(1) From the both side of the CD mechanism assembly, re-move the four screws A attaching the top cover. (SeeFig.1.)(2) Lift the front side of the top cover and move the top coverbackward to release the two join

20、es from soldered sections b of the push switchas required.3.1.3Removing the base board (See Figs.3 and 4)Caution:Solder the short land c before the flexible wire is disconnectedfrom the connector on the pickup. If the flexible wire is discon-nected without applying solder, the pickup may be destroye

21、dby static electricity. (See Fig.3.)(1) From the bottom side of the CD mechanism assembly, re-move the screw C attaching the base board. (See Figs.3and 4.)(2) Solder the short land c on the pickup. (See Fig.3.)(3) Disconnect the flexible wire from the connector on the pick-up. (See Fig.3.)(4) Remove

22、 the base board from the joints d of the frame in thedirection of the arrow. (See Figs.3 and 4.)Reference:Remove the wires from the soldered sections e on the baseboard as required. (See Fig.3.)Caution:When reattaching the base board, be sure to remove solderfrom the short land c after connecting th

24、 assembly, removethe front suspension springs and rear suspension springsattaching the chassis unit to the frame. (See Fig.5.)(2) Remove the chassis unit from the dampers on the frame inan upward direction. (See Fig.6.)Note: Pay attention to misuse and loss of each spring. (See Fig.5.) When reassemb

25、ling, make sure that the three shafts on theunderside of the chassis unit are inserted to the damperscertainly. (See Fig.12.)3.1.8Reattaching the pickup (See Figs.10 to 13)(1) Reattach the feed sub holder to the pickup. (See Fig.12.)(2) Reattach the feed screw holder to the pickup using thescrew G. (See Fig.12.)(

32、3) Reattach the feed screw assembly and pu. shaft holder Ato the pickup as before. (See Fig.11.)(4) Set the section m of the pickup to the rail of the chassis unitat first and attach the pickup to the chassis unit with thescrew F as before. (See Figs.10 and 13.)(5) Attach the pu. shaft to the pickup
