、hanism.1-21-2 IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS1-2-1 Product Safety NoticeSome electrical and mechanical parts have specialsafety-related characteristics which are often not evi-dent from visual inspection, nor can the protectionthey give necessarily be obtained by replacing themwith components rated for

、 higher voltage, wattage, etc. Parts that have special safety characteristics areidentified by a ! on schematics and in parts lists. Useof a substitute replacement that does not have thesame safety characteristics as the recommendedreplacement part might create shock, fire, and/or otherhazards. The P

、roducts Safety is under review contin-uously and new instructions are issued wheneverappropriate. Prior to shipment from the factory, ourproducts are carefully inspected to confirm with therecognized product safety and electrical codes of thecountries in which they are to be sold. However, inorder t

、o maintain such compliance, it is equally impor-tant to implement the following precautions when a setis being serviced.1-2-2 Precautions during ServicingA. Parts identified by the ! symbol are critical forsafety. Replace only with part number specified.B. In addition to safety, other parts and asse

、mbliesare specified for conformance with regulationsapplying to spurious radiation. These must also bereplaced only with specified replacements.Examples: RF converters, RF cables, noise block-ing capacitors, and noise blocking filters, etc.C. Use specified internal wiring. Note especially:1)Wires co

Note especially:1)Insulation tape2)PVC tubing 3)Spacers4)Insulators for transistorsE. When replacing AC primary side components(transformers, power cord, etc.), wrap ends o

、fwires securely about the terminals before solder-ing.F. Observe that the wires do not contact heat produc-ing parts (heatsinks, oxide metal film resistors, fus-ible resistors, etc.).G. Check that replaced wires do not contact sharpedges or pointed parts.H. When a power cord has been replaced, check

、 that5 - 6 kg of force in any direction will not loosen it.I.Also check areas surrounding repaired locations.J. Be careful that foreign objects (screws, solderdroplets, etc.) do not remain inside the set.K. Crimp type wire connectorThe power transformer uses crimp type connectorswhich connect the po

、wer cord and the primary sideof the transformer. When replacing the transformer, follow these steps carefully and precisely to pre-vent shock hazards.Replacement procedure1)Remove the old connector by cutting the wires at apoint close to the connector.Important: Do not re-use a connector. (Discard it

、.)2)Strip about 15 mm of the insulation from the endsof the wires. If the wires are stranded, twist thestrands to avoid frayed conductors.3)Align the lengths of the wires to be connected.Insert the wires fully into the connector.4)Use a crimping tool to crimp the metal sleeve at itscenter. Be sure t

、o crimp fully to the complete clo-sure of the tool.L. When connecting or disconnecting the internal con-nectors, first, disconnect the AC plug from the ACoutlet.1-31-2-3 Safety Check after ServicingExamine the area surrounding the repaired location fordamage or deterioration. Observe that screws, pa

、rts, and wires have been returned to their original posi-tions. Afterwards, do the following tests and confirmthe specified values to verify compliance with safetystandards.1. Clearance DistanceWhen replacing primary circuit components, confirmspecified clearance distance (d) and (d) between sol-dere

、d terminals, and between terminals and surround-ing metallic parts. (See Fig. 1-2-1)Table 1-2-1: Ratings for selected areaNote: This table is unofficial and for reference only. Be sure to confirm the precise values.2. Leakage Current TestConfirm the specified (or lower) leakage currentbetween B (ear
