5、 not attempt to configure the terminal while driving; it is too dangerous. Do not modify the terminal for any reason. Do not place the terminal in excessively dusty, humid, or wet areas, nor on unstable surfaces. Do not touch the surface of the terminal after it has been sitting in a hot environment

6、 for extended periods; the terminal body will rise in temperature and may burn you. If an abnormal odor or smoke is detected coming from the terminal, turn OFF the power immediately. Carefully unpack the terminal. We recommend that yo

9、u identify the items listed in the following table before discarding the packing material. If any items are missing or have been damaged during shipment, file a claim with the carrier immediately. 11、 facility, or the factory. TOOLS REQUIRED Note: Before installing the terminal, always check how far the mounting screws will extend below the mounting surface. When drilling mounting holes, be careful not to damage vehicle wiring or parts. The following tools are required for installing the termina

12、l: 6 mm (1/4 inch) or larger electric drill 4.2 mm (5/32 inch) drill bit for the self-tapping screws INSTALLING THE TERMINAL For passenger safety, install the terminal securely, using the supplied mounting brackets, so the terminal will not break loose in the event of a collision. 1Mark the position

13、 of the holes in the dash by using the base mounting bracket as a template. Drill the holes, then attach the base mounting bracket using the supplied self-tapping screws. Be sure to mount the terminal in a location where the controls are within easy reach of the user. 2Connect the rear mounting brac

14、ket to the back of the terminal using the supplied screws. 3Connect the terminal cable to the mobile unit. The mobile unit must have the optional KCT-34 or KCT-35 cable installed. The appropriate cable depends on the transceiver type. An optional KCT-36 extension cable (12 feet/ 3 m) is also avaible

15、. 4Secure the terminal to the mounting bracket using the supplied rear adjustment screws. Adjust the angle of the terminal before tightening the screws, so that you can easily view the display and panel keys. 18、ys provided within this manual are for your reference only. Actual displays may vary according to how your terminal is set up. POWER This terminal does not have a power switch. Power is supplied directly through the cable attached to the mobile unit. MESSAGE DISPLAY MODE I NEW MESSAGES When a messag

19、e is received, the first few lines appear on the display. To read the message immediately, press READ (key 1). To acknowledge that you know there is a new message, simply press OK (key 5). When you read the message, depending on its size, you may have to scroll down to view the entire message. A sma

20、ll arrow at the bottom right of the display will indicate whether or not you can scroll down. To scroll up and down, use the L and M keys. 5 I OLD MESSAGES The key functions are: RESPOND (key 1) allows you to respond to the displayed message. Pressing this key allows you to respond to the message by

21、 sending a STATUS or SELCALL (key 1 or 2). PAGE (key 2) allows you to scroll down the screen, 1 complete screen at a time. Press and hold this key for approximately 1 second to change the display from page scroll to message scroll. The key name changes to MSG and you can scroll down the screen, 1 li

22、ne at a time. PAGE (key 3) allows you to scroll up the screen, 1 complete screen at a time. Press and hold this key for approximately 1 second to change the display from page scroll to message scroll. The key name changes to MSG and you can scroll up the screen, 1 line at a time. CHK/DEL (key 4) all

23、ows you to mark the displayed message as read (checked), prepare the message for deletion, or uncheck/ undelete the message. Pressing this key once marks the message as read by placing a check icon at the right of the display. Pressing this key a second time (while the check icon is displayed) marks

24、 the message for deletion by placing a delete icon in place of the check icon. Pressing this key a third time (while the delete icon is displayed) unmarks the message. EXIT (key 5) exits the display. 6 MESSAGE LIST MODE Exiting a specific message allows you to view a list of all your messages. You c

25、an scroll through your list of messages using the L and M keys. The first screen of key functions in the message list are: RESPOND (key 1) allows you to respond to the selected message. Pressing this key allows you to respond to the message by sending a STATUS or SELCALL (key 1 or 2). PAGE (key 2) a

26、llows you to scroll down the screen, 1 complete screen at a time. Press and hold this key for approximately 1 second to move the display to the end of the list. PAGE (key 3) allows you to scroll up the screen, 1 complete screen at a time. Press and hold this key for approximately 1 second to move th

27、e display to the beginning of the list. FROM/ TIME (key 4) allows you to change the characteristics of the message list display between the date and time the message was received and the name of the sender. Pressing this key when FROM is displayed changes the message list to the name of the sender.

28、Pressing this key when TIME is displayed returns the message list to the date and time the message was received. MORE (key 5) allows you to display additional functions (refer to the second screen list, below). The second screen of key functions in the message list are: SORT (key 1) allows you to so

29、rt your message list. Pressing this key allows you to choose between TIME, NAME, TITLE, ICON, and DELETE MESSAGE. Select your desired sorting method using the L and M keys, then press EXECUTE (key 1). A confirmation message will appear, allowing you to delete any messages which you have set for dele

30、tion. PAGE (key 2) allows you to scroll down the screen, 1 complete screen at a time. Press and hold this key for approximately 1 second to move the display to the end of the list. 7 PAGE (key 3) allows you to scroll up the screen, 1 complete screen at a time. Press and hold this key for approximate

31、ly 1 second to move the display to the beginning of the list. RETURN (key 5) allows you to return to the first screen list. SENDING MESSAGES You can respond to messages by pressing RESPOND (key 1). You will be given the option to send a STATUS (key 1) or a SELCALL (key 2). Note: If your dealer does

32、not set up the Function Program key, RESPOND will not appear until you press a key from 1 5. I STATUS When selecting a status, a list appears with preset messages. Scroll through the list using the L and M keys to select your desired status. If you are making a status call in response to a message,

33、you already have a selected recipient. However, if you are making a new message, you must also select a recipient by pressing TO (key 4). Use the L and M keys to select your desired recipient from the list in your terminal. Once you have selected a status message and recipient, press SEND (key 1). A

34、 message will appear on the display, confirming that you are sending the data. If there is no response from the recipient, you are given an option to RETRY (key 1) or CANCEL (key 5). 8 I SELCALL If you are making a selcall in response to a message, transmission begins as soon as you press SELCALL. H

35、owever, if you are making a new selcall, select a recipient using the L and M keys to scroll through the list in your terminal, then press CONNECT (key 1). A message will appear on the display, confirming that you are calling the recipient. MENU MODE To enter Menu mode, press the MENU key momentaril

36、y. In Menu mode, you are given the following options: STATUS (key 1) allows you to make a status call. Refer to “Sending Messages”, above. SELCALL (key 2) allows you to make a selcall call. Refer to “Sending Messages”, above. REMOTE (key 3) allows you to use the terminal as a remote controller for y

37、our mobile unit. Keys 1 5 function as follows: System/Group Up, System/Group Down, Group/Channel Up, Group/Channel Down, and Exit Remote Mode (respectively). The L and M keys function as volume up and volume down. The display shows the operating system/group and group/channel. Note: The REMOTE key m

38、ay not appear on some transceivers. CANCEL (key 5) returns you to the previous display. 9 TERMINAL SETTINGS By entering the Settings mode, you can adjust the terminal volume level, the display backlight brightness, the number of lines that appear on the display, the display contrast, the message set

39、tings, and the clock. To enter Settings mode, press and hold the MENU key for approximately 1 second. Refer to the following sub-sections for instructions on how to adjust each setting. I VOLUME LEVEL 1Press VOLUME (key 1) to adjust the volume level. 2Press the M key to decrease the volume or the L

40、key to increase the volume. I DISPLAY BACKLIGHT 1Press B.LIGHT (key 2) to adjust the brightness of the display backlight. 2Press the M key to decrease the brightness or the L key to increase the brightness. 10 I DISPLAY LINES 1Press LINES (key 3) to change the number of text lines that appear on the

41、 display. 2Press the L or M key to scroll through the text line options, as follows: I DISPLAY CONTRAST 1Press CONTRAS (key 4) to adust the contrast of the display. 2Press the M key to decrease the contrast or the L key to increase the contrast.
