40、b.BURNING.Theoverheatingofthereceiveris indicatedwhenpartscomprisingitshowdiscolora- tion,blistering,bulging,orsmellburnt. c.LEAKAGE.Theevidenceofoilorinsulating compoundattheterminalsofsealedcontainerparts providetheearliestpossibleevidenceofreceiver leakage.Theleakagemaybeevidenttooatpinholes and/
41、orbreaksinthecontainerenclosedpartitself. d.CORROSION.Theevidenceofreceivercorro- sionistheoxidation(rust)whichformsonsurfaces, screws,nuts,etc.,usuallywheredifferentmetal areasareincontact. e.DUST,DIRT,ETC.Theneedforcleaningthe receiverisevaluatedbestbytheextenttowhichdust, dirt,etc.,hasaccumulated
42、atelectrontubesocket terminals,resistorboards,andothernottooeasily accessiblesolderedjointsandcornersinthere- ceiver. f.LOOSENESS.Theneedfortighteninganysubas- semblyorpartcomprisingthereceiverisevaluated byfeelingthesuspectedloosepartfortightness.In theinstanceofattachinghardwaresuchasnutsand/ orsc

46、on;ifso,replacethem. b.Switchtheselectivityswitchfrompositiontopo- sitionand note ifthereceiverfaultissuchasto causearcingatanyoneoftheswitchcontacts.This isaveryremotepossibilitybutin anycaseeach switchcontactshouldbeinspectedforevidenceof charringofthebakeliteswitchwafers;ifany,replace theswitch.
