AccordingtoCollins the circuit gives exceptio
18、nally linear low noise amplification. The second tuned circuit filter section is of lowerQIhan thefirst because il is loaded withSwampingresistors(R,.R28 R:!I. Ra;-,). Reader John Hutchings suggestsit might be possible to sharpen the responseby removing the swamping resistors(82K, 47K, 10K,and10K )i
19、n the second section.This is located in asmall(5x2.x 21;2) aluminum boxatthe front of theleftsideof the unit. Getting at the resistors looks difficult.This modificationhasnot actuallybeentried. Mostoftherealcomplexityo f the F-l039Ais in its luningcircuits. II is remote- Iy digitally tuned,andthat n
20、ecessitates digi- tal-to-analogconversion,servosystems,and allthatkindofnice stuff. This isaccom- plished by the familiar servo loop, witherror voltages. servo amplifiers, and feedback10 achieve zeroerrorvoltagewhenthe set is properly tuned. The power supply. whatever its input vol- tage,contains a
21、rectifier bridge and a400Hz power oscillatorwhich feeds atransformer tappedappropriately to provide the necessary working voltages whicharethen rectified, filtered.andregulated. To protect theunit and the receiver, there is an overload relay. K 1 whichopensduring bandswitching,andwhenever high r.f,
