15、ator.Thesignal in theformofa-coutputprovides the audibleoutputof the system;oritis usedtooperatearecorderdriving unitassociatedwiththe tapeinkrecorder,ortoprovide inputtoa suitable frequency-shiftconverterassociated witha teletypewriter. 1-7.Thetonegeneratorkeyedoutputmay be used toprovidethesignal

17、als. 1-8.Theradioreceiver provides for continuously vari- able receptionwithinthe frequencyrangeof0.54 mcto 54.0 mc,andforcrystal-controlled fixed-frequency re- ceptionwithinthe frequencyrangeof0.75 mcto54.0 me.Thereceiver uses single heterodyne conversionfor its three lower frequency bandsanddouble
18、heterodyne conversionforits threehigherbands(above7.4mc). Thereceiver signal-to-noise ratioandsensitivity charac- teristicsprovideforthe receptionofextremely weak signalsandthe receiver is well suitedforthe reception ofshort-wave signals which areinherentlysubjectto nonselectiveandselective fading.
19、1-9.Theradioreceiver has aninternalbeat-frequency oscillator used in heterodyne detectionofkeyed-carrier signals toprovideaudiosignal intelligence to the head- setand/orloudspeakermonitor. 1-10.Theradioreceiver has a self-containedpowersup- ply designedtooperatefroma 50-cps to 60-cps, single- phase

28、 ofthe receiver, for which thejumperedconnection pro- vides amid-pointtap.Thisuseofthe line may be simultaneous to itsotheruses. 1-17.ThereceiverDIODEOUTPUTterminals (2,figure2-2)andtheAVCterminals(3) areusedtointerconnecttworeceiversinaspace- diversity receiving system.TheAVCterminal desig- natedGi
29、sgroundedforeach receivertoacommon groundwhilethatdesignated-isinterconnected between receivers.Thisisdonetoprovidecommonavc between receiversforspace-diversity receptionofan amplitude-modulatedorfrequency-shiftsignal.With thisarrangement,the avc duetothestrongersignal re- ceivedonone receiver decre
30、asestheweaker signaland thenoiseoutputoftheother.Toprovideforspace- diversity receptionofphone,theaudiooutputfromonly onereceiver is used.Todo this,thejumperedDIODE OUTPUTterminalsareopenedonone receiverand the-terminalconnectedtotheotherreceiver, which providestheoutput.Toprovideforspace-diversity
31、re- ceptionofcwtoatonekeyer(generator)ortapeink recorder, the receiver interconnections are asoutlined forphone,butnoavcandnobfoare used.Thisis the casewhenthedocoutputfromthe three interconnected DIODEOUTPUTterminals is used.Whenthea-c outputis used, the diversitydemodulator,associated withthetapei
32、nkrecorder, isprovidedwiththea-c outputfromtheAUDIOOUTPUTterminals(8)of each receiver.Toprovideforthe space-diversity recep- tionoffrequency-shiftcarriersignals,thei-foutput orthe audiooutputfromeach receiver may be used to provideinputtosuitablefrequency-shiftconverterequip- ment. 1-18.TheACpowerre

Thesecontrols are all locatedonthefrontpanelofthe 2 receiver,withtheexceptionoftheMETERADRF control(5,figure2-2)andtheMETERADAF control(7)used to calibratethetuningmeter(1,figure 3-1)onthefrontpanel,an
