If an abnormal odor or smoke s detected comng from the transcever, swtch the transcever power off mmedately,
14、and contact your Kenwood dealer. Use of the transceiver while you are driving may be against traffjc laws. Please check and observe the vehcle regulatons n your area. Do not use options not specifjed by Kenwood. u The transcever operates n 12 V negatve ground systems only! Check the battery polarty
15、and voltage of the vehcle before nstallng the transcever. u Use only the suppled DC power cable or a Kenwood optonal DC power cable. u Do not cut and/or remove the fuse holder on the DC power cable. For passenger safety, nstall the transcever securely usng the suppled mountng bracket and screw set s

Typcal examples nclude electronc fuel njecton, ant-skd brakng, and cruse control. If you
22、r vehcle contans such equpment, consult the dealer for the make of vehcle and enlst hs/her ad n determnng f they wll perform normally whle transmttng. n Power Cable Connection The transcever operates n 12 V negatve ground systems only! Check the battery polarty and voltage of the vehcle before nstal
23、lng the transcever. 1 Check for an existing hole, conveniently located in the fjrewall, where the power cable can be passed through. If no hole exsts, use a crcle cutter to drll a hole, then nstall a rubber grommet. 2 Run the power cable through the fjrewall and into the engine compartment. 3 Connec
24、t the red lead to the postve (+) battery termnal and the black lead to the negatve () battery termnal. Place the fuse as close to the battery as possble. 4 Col the surplus cable and secure t wth a retanng band. Be sure to leave enough slack n the cables so the transcever can be removed for servcng w
25、hle keepng the power appled. 2 n Installing the Transceiver For passenger safety, nstall the transcever securely usng the suppled mountng bracket and screw set, so the transcever wll not break loose n the event of a collson. Note: Before nstallng the transcever, check how far the mountng screws wll
26、extend below the surface. When drllng mountng holes, be careful not to damage vehcle wrng or parts. 1 Mark the poston of the holes n the dash, usng the mountng bracket as a template. Usng a 4.2 mm (5/32 nch) drll bt, drll the holes, then attach the mountng bracket usng the suppled screws. Mount the
27、transceiver within easy reach of the user and where there is suffjcient space at the rear of the transcever for cable connectons. 2 Connect the antenna and the suppled power cable to the transcever. 3 Slde the transcever nto the mountng bracket and secure t usng the suppled hex-headed screws. 4 Moun
28、t the optonal mcrophone hanger n a locaton where t wll be wthn easy reach of the user. The mcrophone and mcrophone cable should be mounted n a place where they wll not nterfere wth the safe operaton of the vehcle. When replacng the fuse n the DC power cable, be sure to replace t wth a fuse of the sa
29、me value. Never replace a fuse wth one that s rated wth a hgher value. 40、sgnment hold to “Enable” and second functon as “Emergency”. 6 BASIC OPERATIONS SWITCHING POWER ON/ OFF Press to swtch the transcever ON. A beep sounds and the dsplay llumnates. If the Power-on tone select s set to OFF, the beep wll not sound. If the Transcever Password functon s programmed, “PASSWOR
41、D” wll appear on the dsplay. Refer to “Transcever Password”, on page 6. Press agan to swtch the transcever OFF. n Transceiver Password To enter the password: 1 Press / to select a dgt. When usng a keypad, smply enter the password dgts and proceed to step 4. 2 Press C to accept the entered dgt and mo
42、ve to the next dgt. Press A or # to delete an ncorrect dgt. Press and hold A or # to delete all dgts. 3 Repeat steps 1 and 2 to enter the entre password. 4 Press S or to confjrm the password. If you enter an ncorrect password, the transcever remans locked. ADJUSTING THE VOLUME Press the Volume Up ke
43、y to ncrease the volume. Press the Volume Down key to decrease the volume. If Squelch Off has been programmed onto a key, you can use that functon to lsten to background nose whle adjustng the volume level. SELECTING A ZONE AND CHANNEL/GROUP ID Select the desred zone and channel/group ID usng the ke
44、ys programmed as Zone Up/ Zone Down and CH/GID Up/ CH/GID Down. You can program names for zones and channels/group IDs wth up to 10 characters. n Home Channel/Group ID You can select your Home channel/group ID by pressng Home CH/GID. Press the key a second tme to return to your prevous channel/group
45、 ID. n Direct Channel/Group ID You can quckly select a commonly used channel/group ID by pressng Direct CH/GID 1 Direct CH/GID 4. Press the same key a second tme to return to your prevous channel/group ID (f the key assgnment Drect CH/GID return s confjgured as “Enabled”). 7 TRANSMITTING/ RECEIVING
46、1 Select your desred zone and channel. 2 Press the mcrophone PTT swtch and speak nto the mcrophone to transmt. Release the PTT swtch to receve. For best sound qualty at the recevng staton, hold the mcrophone approxmately 1.5 nches (3 4 cm) from your mouth. SCAN Scan montors for sgnals on the transcever channels. Whle scannng, the transcever checks for a sgnal on each channel a
