TheYaesuFL2100Flinear amplifieristhecurrent versionofthe basicdesignthathasbeen onthe marketfora numberofyears. Rated atlkWinput on c.w. and 1200watts p.e.p. input on s.s.b., the FL2100F covers80through15

Deslqn- ed tomatchthestylingoftheFTl01 transceiver,thislinear is smallin size. measuring13%by 11% by 6, A goodportionofits41poundsis takenupbythepowertransformer whichhasa daulprimarywinding thaimay be strappedforoperation fromeither117v.a.c.or220 v.a.c. Platevoltagesuppliedtoapairof 5728zer

Yaesurecommendslimitingkey- downtimeatfullinputtoten seconds,inordertoprotectthe 5728s.Irecommendyou learn proper tuning

8、procedureifyouwishto avoid arc-overs Inthefinaltank. ItisImportantthatinany high powerintermittentdutyamplifierto tunethefinal platetankcircuitto resonance and insert some loading, withminimaldrive applied. Withtwotonesappliedthe out- putlevelis6dBgreaterthanwith a singletoneapplied.Withthe amp- lifieroperating,thirdorderproducts measuredthesameaswas realized withthetransceiveralong. Thesame testwasrepeatedwithanothertrans- ceiverexhibitingthirdorderproducts 3

14、2dBbelow asingletoneofa two- tonetest.Withtheamplifierinopera- tion,thirdorderproductsmeasured -32 dB. The FL2100F is a clean amp- lifier. Photographsoftheanalyzer displayofthirdorderproductsarenot includedhere becauseouranalyzer doesnot have phase-lock,nordisplay storage, thus making itdifficultto

15、ob- tain clear photosofthis particular test. This,ofcourse, does notaffect the measurement -only the abilitytophoto- graph the measurement. We are work- ing on ways to rectify thisand soon hopetobe able to show you photosof third orderdistortion products. Todeterminethe efficiencyofthe contest and D

16、X work.Aftertwo years there had been no failureofanycom- ponent and the power outputwas almostidenticaltothatmeasured when theunitwas new. In ordertoprovide amorerealistic evaluation oftheamplifiersperfor- mance,spectrumanalysiswas made ofboth theexciterusedtodrive the FL2100Fandtheamplifieroutput u

17、nder full load.Ifyou lookatthe21 MHzoutputoftheexciter youwill see thatthesecondharmonic is41dB downfromthefundamental.This leveljustmeets F.C.C. specifications.
