Itisthis signalvoltage which appearsonthe biasstringto excitethegrid and provideuswith the basisofmeasurement. 2 MODEL650 SERVICE purpose ofthevoltagesensitivebridge istouswith the automatic linevoltagecompensationfeature that our instrument
13、Itoperates in the followingmanner. Thevoltagesensitivebridgehasaninversecurrentcharacteristic. When the linevoltagedrops the resistanceof the bridge circuit decreases causingan increase in signalvoltage. If we did not employ thisvoltage sensitivewe had an increaseinlinevoltage, this wouldresultin an
14、increase in plate voltagetothe tube under test,anincrease in heater voltageand an increasein signal voltage. Thiswould cause the test meterontheto read higher thanit should. However, because of thevoltagesensitivebridge and the manner whichitisoperated,foranincreaseinlinevoltage, thevoltagesensitive
15、 bridge bucks this increase by causingadecreasethevoltage appliedto the tube undertest. Thisdecrease of signalvoltageoffsetsthe increaseofother tube voltagesandcausesthe insturment meter toreadapproximatelythe same asit did if the tube were tested at115volts. regulation wilt be maintained betweenl i
16、 m i t s-125voltsofline voltage, and will causethe insturment to benomorethan about5%off in its readingorthiswideof linevoltage. The design ofsocketisbased on thethatnumbers of tubeshavingthesamebasingandoperatingconditionsbe lumped and tested inonesocket. Forexample, socket9which tests tubesof the7
17、pin miniature variety,in approximatelythesameregionofgrid bias. This is about2.5volts. Thissameapproach was used in grouping foraitothersocketspanel. 19、nd with exactly 115voltsofClinevoltage, adjust the ACsignalatterminal6OB bridge panel to read exactly1.45volts This adjustmentisby adjustingthe signallocated directly beneath socket60. Thiscontrolcanbe reached with a screwdriverthe keyway of this socket. 2. Witha20.000ohm per voltvoltmeter, connect
20、from pin#6to ground adjust thebiascontrolwhich isR-4togetareading ofvolts. With a voltageof2.5volts at pin6,pin7should read3.5voltsand pin 3should read approximatelyvolts.
