Box 1500 OKYO, JAPAN YAISU C YAESU FL-2 IOOZ LINEAR AMPLIFIER The FL-21002 is high peribrmance linear amplifier designed for all Yaesu HF SSB transceivef. This amplifier uses two 5728/T160 transnitting triodes in a Class AB, grounded-grid configu

2、ration. Operation on the 160 through l0 meter bands is provided. Two quiet internal fans provide lorced air cooling lbr the final tubes. An intemal change- over circuit biases the tubes to cutoff duing receive operation, thereby eliminating unnecessary heat and diode noise generation. A unique safet

3、y iature incorporated in the design of the FL-21002 is a momentry bias delay circuit, which protects the tank circuitry from damage by delaying the activation of the final tubes until the T/R relay is firmly seated. An internl relay connects the antenna directly through to the exciter dudng standby

4、operation, or wllen the amplifier is tumed off. A built-in SWR meter is also included, for monjtoring of the feedline SWR during eitller ampliier or exciter only operation. The power supply lor the FL-21002 is built in. lt requires no warnup time, and its healy-duty construction provides excellent r

5、egulation. We recommend that you red this manual in its entirety before commencing opeation. Opemtion of the FL-21002 is extremely straightforward, but improper adjustment ol the controls and switches could cause reduced power output or damage to the amplifier components. With proper care, tlle FL-2

10、.,- - 2 - FRONT PANEL CONTROLS AND SWITCHES a (1) POWER This is the main power on/oi switch tbr the amplifier- (2) OPER/STBY This switch epplies bies to the final tubes during standby (STBY) operation, cutting them off. The relay is lso disengaged ir1 this condition. (3) METER lhe METER switch selec

11、ts indication on the SWR/ ammeter of plate current, relative ibrward power, and relative reflected power. (4) SWR SENS This control sets the SWR meter sensitivity level. (5) LOADING This control adjusts the tuning of the loading capacrtor. (7) PLATE This control adjusts the tuning of the plate tank

12、capacitor- (8) SWR/AMMETER This meter displays either the feedline SWR or amplifier plate currcnt, depending on lhe position of the METER switch. (9) PLATE VOLTAGE METER The amplifier plate voltage is displayed on this meter, in thousands of volts. (6) BAND This knob selccts the blnd of operation io

13、 the amplifier, which must be the same as that of the transmitter. 3 REAR APRON CONNECTIONS I (r) RF OUT This coaxial jack provides the RF output to the antenna. (2) RF IN The RF input from the transceiver should be connected herc. (3) GND Connect the amplifier to the station ground bus at this poin

14、t. (4) FUSE For AC 100/110/1 17 volts, use a 20 amp fuse. For AC 2OOl22Ol234 volts, use a l5 amp fuse. Do not use a fuse ofthe improper rating. (s) ALC This RCA jack is used for connection to the tmns- ceiver ALC Line. (6) RY This RCA jack is used for connection to the transceiver relay (make-on-tra

15、nsmit) contacts. I 0r CAUTION NEVER OPERATE THIS EQUIPMENT WITHOUT CONNECTING IT TO GOOD EARTH GROUND. LIKEWISE, NEVER OPERATE THE AMPLIFIER WITHOUT HAVING AN NTENNA OR DUMMY LOAD CONNECED TO THE REAR PANEL RF OUT JACK. I I I I I I INSTALLATION UNPACKING AND INSPECTION Carefully remove the FL-21002

18、 the following page ibr intcrconnection details ofa typical installation using the FL fl00Z. The LC input to the transceiver should be connected to thc FL-21 002 ALC jack. The make- on-transmit contact ol the relay uscd ior T-R switching must be connected to thc FL-21002 RY jack, with a common lead

19、(to the outer contect of RCAjack). Use a short length of RG-s8A/U or RC8A/U coax cable ibr the intcrconnection between the trans- ceiver ANT jack arld the FL,2l00Z RF IN jack. For Ihe output lead frorn the FL-21002 RF OUT jack, do not use Ure small RG-ssA/U type of cable, as its power rating is insu

20、fficient ibr the power level produced by the FL-21002. The transceiver used to excite ihe FL-21002. should be cepable ofproducing 100 watts PEP SSB outpui Ior full output iiom the amplifier. POWER CONNECTIONS The FL-21002 includes a builFin power supply capable of operation from AC 100/ll0/ll71200/

21、220/234 volts. 50/60 Hz. Betbre connecting the amplilier power cord to the AC supply meins, be absolutely certain that the voltage specification ma.kecl on the rear apron of the amplilier matches your local supply voltage. Refer to the power transforrner pdmary connection diagram when changing volia

22、ges. It is essential that a fuse of the proper rating be used with this equipment. For AC 100/110/117 volts, use only a 20 amp fuse. For AC 200/220/ 234 volts, use only a 15 amp fuse. WARNING PERMANENT DAMAGE WILL RESULT IF IMPROPER AC SUPPLY VOLTAGE IS AP. PLIED TO THIS EQUIPMENT. OUR WAR RANTY DOE

23、S NOT COVER DAMAGE CAUSEI BY IMPROPER SUPPLY VOLTAG OR USE OF AN IMPROPER FUSE. If at all possible. the FL-21002 should bc operated iiom an independent 220-volt AC line_ The line should be fused for 10 amperes, and no other equipment should be run off the same circuit. lf a I 17-volt circuit is a1l

24、that is vilable, it should be fused ibr 20 amperes, and circuit conductors should be no smaller than #10 AWG. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should the FL-21002 be operated from a I I ?-volt house lighting circuit, as the cifcuit condLrctors may not be large enough to c.lrry this curent load- ANTENNA REQUIR

25、EMENTS The FL-21002 has been designed for use with an antenna presenting a 50 to ?5-ohm rcsistive load to the RF OUT jack. Wren using n antenna present- ing an impedance which is far from this figure, use an antenna natching network in oroer ro bring the antenna system impedance within the operating

26、 range of this ampliler. GROUND This ainplifier should be connected to a good earth ground, using a hea.ry, braided cable not more than 10 1et long for connection to the station ground bus. 31、STBY. Now rotate the exciter drive control fully counterclockwise (mlnlmur drive level). Set the OPI-R/STBY switch to OPER. Close the excite. PTT switch, end slowly advance thc drive control ol-the exciter until a reading of 0.2 emps is obtained on the FL-21002 plaie meter. Tune the fL-21 002 PLATE

For CW operation, set the dive level of the excrter for a power inpllt of I kilowatt (e.g- 0.5 amps at 2000 volts plate current under load). To measure the SWR at the

39、 antenne jack, set the meter switch to FWD (Forward). arrd apply RF power. Adjust the SWR SENS control for a full scalc dcflection of the SWR meter. Now set the METER switch to REF (Reflected). 40、umber 0- The FL-21002 employs two 5728/T160 zero bias triodes in class AB, grounded-gid configuration. RF d ving power from the exciter is applied through antenna changeover relay RL, and an input matching network to the filaments. The broadband input pi networks requirc no tuning to present the cor

41、rect impedance match to the tubes and 50 ohms to the exciter. A sample of the exciter RF is taken from the filaments through Cr! to ALC rectifier diodes Dr (151007) and D, (10D10). Trimmer capacitor TCr then serves as a voltage divider in conjunction with Cr, for adjusting the level of ALC voltage p

42、rovided for the exciter at J3 . CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION Table I The grid bias is set by Ra. When antenna rclays RL, and RL, are activated (to transmit), Cao6 dischalges through R3oa. RMOVAL OF TOP ND BOTTOM COVERS After disconnectilg the AC powe cabie frcm the AC supply mains, the top cover o the amplifier may be remove

47、d by removing the I screws. Then remove the 12 screws affixing the bottom cover, and rcmove the cover. AND ALIGNMENT REMOVAL OF THE PA COMPARTMENT SHILD COVER Once the top cover is removed, the shield cover for the PA cornpament may be removed by taking olf the screws of the shield cover. A safety i

48、nter_ lock will short out the filter capaciton when this is Always discharye the plate cap to g.ounal with an insulated scrcwddver when working on the pA comparlment circuitry. Wait at least ten minutes after tuming the amplifier off before removing the shield cover. TUBE REPLACEMENT If replacement

49、of ihe amplifier tubes becomes necessary, use tubes of identical manufacture as the originals. See your Yaesu dealer.
