1、LTXXX-OM-E Rev BISSUED: January2002231 AP P E N D I XArchitectureandSpecifications InstrumentArchitectureOverview PROCESSORS TheWaverunner central processingunit (CPU), aPowerPC microprocessor, performs theoscilloscopes computations, andcontrols its operation. A rangeof peripheral interfaces allowyo

2、utocontrol remotely, store waveforms andother data, andmakehardcopies. A support processor constantlymonitors thefront panel controls. TheWaverunner transfers datatodisplaymemoryfor direct waveform display, or stores it to referencememories for fast dataprocessing. ADCs EachWaverunner channel has an

3、8-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). Theinstruments ADC architecture is designedtogiveexcellent amplitudeandphasecorrelation, maximum analog-to-digital conversion performance, largerecordlengths, andsuperior timeresolution. MEMORIES Waverunner acquisitionmemories simplifysignal acquisitionbyprod

4、ucingwaveform records that allow detailedanalysis over largetimeintervals. Therearefour memories for temporarystorage, andfour morefor waveform zoomingandprocessing. RIS TheWaverunner oscilloscopecaptures andstores repetitivesignals at amaximum Random Interleaved Sampling(RIS)rateof 25 GS/s. This ad

5、vanceddigitizingtechniqueenables measurement of repetitivesignals withaneffectivesamplinginterval of 100 ps, andameasurement resolutionof upto10 ps. TRIGGER SYSTEM Youcancontrol Waverunner triggeringtoahighlyspecializeddegreeinaccordancewithwaveform characteristics andchosentrigger conditions. Thetr

6、igger sourcecanbeanyof theinput channels, line (synchronizedtoscopes maininput supply)or external. Thecouplingis selectedfrom AC, LF REJect, HF REJect, HF, andDC; theslopefrom positiveandnegative. Waverunner SMART Trigger offers awiderangeof sophisticatedtrigger modes matchedtospecial trigger condit

Vertical gainandoffset calibration, andhorizontal (time)resolution tak

8、eplaceeachtimeyouchangethevolts per divisionsetting. Periodic andtemperaturedependent auto-calibrationensures long-term stabilityat the current setting. DISPLAY SYSTEM Youcontrol thedisplays interactive, user-friendlyinterfaceusingpushbuttons andknobs. Displayas manyas eight different waveforms at o

9、nceoneight separategrids. Theparameters controllingsignal captureare simultaneouslyreported. TheWaverunner displays internal status andmeasurement results, as well as operational, measurement, andwaveform analysis menus. The8.4-inchcolor flat panel TFT LCD screendisplays waveforms anddatabymeans of

10、advancedcolor management. Overlapmixingandcontrast enhancement functions ensurethat overlappingwaveforms remain distinct at all times. Preset andpersonal color schemes areavailable. TheAnalogPersistencefunction offers displayattributes of ananaloginstrument withall theadvantages of digital technolog

11、y. TheFull Screenfunctionexpands waveform grids tofill theentirescreen. A hardcopyof thescreencanbeeasilyproducedbypressingthefront panel PRINT SCREEN button. INTERFACE AND PANEL SETUPS AlthoughtheWaverunner is atrulydigital instrument, thefront panel layout andcontrols aresimilar to those of ananal

12、ogoscilloscope. Rapidresponseandinstant representationof waveforms onthehigh resolution screenaddtothis similarity. Four front panel setups can bestoredinternally, andrecalleddirectlyor byremote control, thus ensuringrapidfront panel configuration. Whenpower is switchedoff, thefront panel settings a

13、re automaticallystoredfor recall whenthescopeis next poweredon. REMOTE CONTROL TheWaverunner has also beendesignedfor remotecontrol operationinautomatedtestingandcomputer aided measurement applications.
