FREQ.RANGE-Thisrotaryswitchchangesresistancevaluesinthe frequencydeermmingsectionsoftheinstru

11、ment.Thepositionofthisswitch determInesthemultiplyingfactorthatmustbeusedtoconvertthefrequency dIalmdicatiototheactualoutputfrequencyoftheinstrument. 17、cillatorconsistsofanoscillatorsection,an isolahgamplifier,anddrybateriestosupplythefllamentandplatevoltages. TheoscillaorsectionconsistsoftubesVIandV2whichareconnected toformatwostageresisancecoupledamplifier.Twofeedbackcircuitsare connectedaroundhisamplifier-apositivefeedbackcircuittoproduceoscilla

18、- tiosandaegatiefeedbackcircuittominimizedistortionandmaintainconstant ampliudeofoscillaion. Theposrvefeedbackcircuicotainsafixedresistance(Rl-R8)and variablecapaciynework(CI-C4).Osc1llationsareproducedwhenthereis zerophaseSh1fthroughthisfeedbacknetworkandtheoscillatorfrequencyis determinedbythecirc

19、uitconstansofh1Snework. Theegahvefeedbaketworkintheoscillatorsectionminimizschanges inosc1llatoramplitudew1thchagesinfrequency.Th1sneworkiscomposedof R12,RI7,adRILRllisa 3waincandescentlamp.Thislamphasatem- perature-resistancecharacteristicsuchthatitsresistancewillincreaseindirect proportiontohevolt

24、er- istics.TubeVIismorecriticalbecauseitoperates(lowestfrequencyrange only)withanextremelyhighresistanceinitsgrIdcircuit.Therefore,ifthere- placemetfortubeVIhasgascurrent,thefrequencycalibrationofthelowest fequencyrangewillshiftduetothegascurrentflowingthroughthegridresistor. ReplacemenofLampRll- Th

25、islampoperatesfarbelowitsratedpowerconsumptionandshould haveainfimtelife.However,shouldthelampfailitwillbenecessarytoread- justresistorR12aferthereplacementlampisinstalled. Installthereplacementlampandmeasuretheoscillatorvoltagebetween hejuncboofC9andR19,andthechassis.Thisvoltagemustbebetween9and 11

26、volts(RMS)wIthheosillatorsetat1000cycles/sec.Ifthisvoltageisnot WithlhespeIfiedrange,thenadjustR12sothatthecorrectvoltageisobtained. LubrlaionofTuningCapaciorDrlveMechamsm ThetuIngcapacitordrivemechanIsmshouldbelubricatedonceayear. Putonedropofhghtoil(#10)ineachofthethreeoilholesinthetuningcapacitor

27、 drivecasig(SeeFig.3).Donotlubricatethegearteethorthebearingsinthe capator. yCahbraion- hefrequencycalibralonhas(exceptwhenduetoagassytubeVI) c;ifted,thenhefollowingprocedureshouldbeusedtorestorethecalibration. Avacuumtubevolttneter,anoscilloscope,andasourceofaccuratefre- quencyvolagetocoverthe200to

28、2,000cycles/sec.rangearenecessaryfor ahbratingthlinstrumen. 1.Unscrewthecapivesrewsandremoveheinstrumenfromthecase. 2.RotatetheFREQUENCYdialcounterclockwiseuntilitstops.The smalldobeyondthehighfrequencyendofthedialscaleshouldhencoincidewith thedexlinonthewlndow. 3.Ifthedotdoesnotcoincide,removethekn

29、objustbelowthediales- cutcheon.Loosenthefourscrewsonthedialhubandrotatethedial,whilehold- ighhubagamshesop,untilhedotcoincideswiththeindex.Tlghtenthe crews. -6- . ll . . 00 0 . o 4.Connectthesourceofstandardfrequenciestothehorizontalinputter- minalsoftheoscilloscope.Theverticalinputterminalsoftheosc

30、illoscope, hevacuumtubevoltmeter,andtheratedloadareconnectedtotheOUTPUT terminalsoftheoscillator. 5.SettheoscillatorFREQUENCYdialtothestopdot,theFREQ. RANGEswitchtoXIOO,andtheAMPLITUDEcontrolnearmaximum.Turnon theoscillatorandmeasureitsfrequency(withtheInstrumentinthecase)by meansoftheLissajousfigur

31、esontheoscilloscopescreen.Thefrequency shouldbe2400cycles. 6.Ifthefrequencyiscorrect(2400cycles/sec.)proceedtothenextstep. Ifnotcorrect,thenadjustClandC3(SeeFig.2)simultaneously,withanon- metallicscrewdriver,untilafrequencyof2400cycles/sec.isobtained.The instrumentmustalwaysbeputbackintothecaseforfr

32、equencychecking. 7.NowsettheFREQUENCYdialtoexactly20.Donotchangethe FREQ.RANGEcontrol.AdjusttheAMPLITUDEcontrolshghtlysoastoobtain asatisfactoryindicationonthevoltmeter.Thisvoltageshouldbenotedand usedasareferencelevelforflatteningtheoscillatorresponse. 8.SettheFREQUENCYdialtoexactly2andcomparetheos

33、cillator frequenywiththefrequencystandard.Alsonotetheoutputvoltage.Ifthe frequencyisnot200cycles/sec.andtheoutputvoltageisnotthesameasIt wasat20,thenadjustClandC3simultaneouslytoobtainthecorrectfrequency andoltage. 9.Returnto20andre-adjustC 1andC3forthecorrectfrequencyand referencelevel. 10.Repeatst
