RadioFans.CN 收音机爱 好者资料库 INSTRUCTIONS MODEL452A CAPACITIVEVOLTAGEDIVIDER INTRODUCTORY The-hp-Model452ACapacitiveVoltageDividerprovidc.5a.voltagedivi- sionof1000-to-landisdesignedtobeusedwiththe-hp-Model400A,400Cor 410A*VTVM.Voltagesashighas25,000v
3、oltsrmscanbemeasuredwiththe Divider.WhenusedwiththeModel410A*VTVM,theDividerwillpermitthe measurementofvoltagesovertherangefrom25cpsto20megacycles.When usedwiththeModel400Aor400CVTVM,theDividerWIllpermitthemeasurement ofvoltagesoverarangefrom25cpstotheupperfrequencylimitofthevoltmeter. Anominal15mic
4、romicrofaradvacuumcapacitorisusedasthehigh-volt- agecapacitor.Inserieswiththiscapacitorarerelativelylow-voltagecapacitors totalingapproximately15,000mm.Thus,theinputcapacityofthedivideris onlyapproximately15mmf. UNPACKING TheModel452Aispackagedintwopackages.Onepackagecontainsthe metalbaseoftheDivide
5、randthesecondcontainsthevacuumcapacitor.Thesetwo packagesshouldbeunwrappedcarefullyandinspectedforpossibledamageinship- ment.Ifanyshippingdamageisdiscovered,followtheproceduresetoutinthe WarrentyatthebackofthisManual. P4/lpt ThevacuumcapacitorItsintotheholeinthetopofthebase.Theset screwwrenchfortigh
6、teningthe#8setscrewthatholdsthecapacitorinplaceis locatedontheinsideoftheplateonthebottomofthebasefortheDivider.The baseplatecanberemovedbyremovingthescrewsthatholdtheplateinplace. IftwoormoreDividersareorderedatonetime,makecertainthatthe propervacuumcapacitorisassembledwithitsproperbase,forthereaso
7、nthat thevacuumcapacitorsarenotnecessarilyinterchangeablewithoutreadjusting thecapacityvaluesinthebasesoftheDivider. GROUNDING TheDividerisdesignedtobeoperatedwiththecommon(lower)terminal grounded.Whenmeasuringhighvoltages.hecommonerminalshouldbe groundedthroughalargeconductorhavingnegligibleimpedance.Failuretoheed thisprecau
9、tioncancausethebaseoftheDividerandtheVTVMitselftobeata highpotentialandcanfurthercausethevoltmetertoarctothepowerhnefeeding thevoltmeter,thusconnectingtheDividertoapowerline. CORONA Anyconductorthatisconnectedtothehighvoltageterminalatthetopof theDividershouldbewrappedsmoothlyaroundtheerminalwithnos
10、harpedges projecting.Thispreautionisintendedasasafeguardagainstcoronadischarge whichcanaffecttheaccuracyofthereadingsbyloadingthevoltageg-enerator andcanreducethebreakdownvoltageoftheDivIder. FREQUENCYRANGE MAXIMUMVOLTAGE AtlowfrequenciestheDividercanbeusedtomeasurevoltagesupto 25,000voltsrms.Howeve
11、r,athIgherfrequenciesthemaximumvoltagethatcan beappliedtotheDividerisreduced.owingtothecurrentlimitationofhecapa- citors.ThemaximumvoltagethatcanbeappliedtoheDivideratvariousfre quenciesisgiveninthefollowingtable: 25kilovolts 22kilovolts 20kilovolts 15kilovolts 7kilovolts MaximumVoltage 60cps 100cps
12、 1mcs 10mcs 20mcs Frequency TheDivideritselfcanbeusedtomeasurevoltagesoverafrequencyrange from25cpsto20megacycles.However,theuseablerangeoftheinstrumentis ordinarilydeterminedbythevoltmeterthatisused.The-hp-Model4l0A*Will permittheuseoftheDivideroveritswholeratedrangeThe-hp-Model400A and400Cvoltmete
13、rspermitmeasurementsfrom25cpsto1mcand2mcrespect- ively. SHELDING Whenmakinghighvoltagemeasurements,itisdesirabletomakecertain thatvoltagepick-upwithinthevoltmeerwillnotcauseanerroneousreading. Pick-upistobeexpectedmoreintheModel410AthanintheModels400Aor400C becauseoftheveryhighimpedancelevelsinheMod
14、el410A.*-AlsoModelL1.iGB -2- Thepresenceofvoltagepick-upcanbedeterminedbyconnectingthevolt- agetobemeasuredtotheDividerwithoutconnectingthevoltmetertotheDivider. (AllsafetyprecautionsgivenunderOperationllbelowshouldbefollowed).The voltmeterterminalsshouldbeshieldedwithashieldedtypeplug. Ifanapprecia
15、blereadingisobtainedonthevoltmeterunderthesecondItions, anerrorwIlloccurInanymeasurementsthataremade.Inotrdertoavoidsuch error,itisnecessarytogroundthevoltmeterwIthagoodground.1grounding doesnotcorrectthetrouble,itisdesirabletoIsolate.hevoltmeterasweIaspos- sible.Ifthevoltagegeneratorisahighfrequenc
16、ygenerator,shorteningthepower cordorplacingrfchokesinthepowercordforthevoltmeterlHm311rWInrducehe pickup. ACCURACY TheDivideriadjustedtobeaccuratewithin1percent.However,atthe higherfrequenciesthevoltmeterusedwilloftenintroduceanerrorbecauseof theloadlllgeffectofthevoltmeterontheDivider. Whenusingthe
17、Model400C,410A,or410B,theDIVIderisaccuratewthin 3percentatfrequenciesdownto25cps.WhenusingtheModel400A,hevoltage fromtheDIviderisapproximately5percentlowat40cpsand10percentlowat 25cps. BREAKDOWNVOLTAGE ThegapbetweenthehIghvoltageterminalandthebreakdownterminal hasbeenadjustedsothatanarcwillo,ccurata

OPERATION CAUTION:Neverworkdirectlyonhighvoltageequipmentunlessboth conductorsareshortedtogetherasdescribedbelow. 1.ConnectDividertovoltmeterbymeansofshieldedplugandcord attachedtoDivider.Makecertainthatgroundterminalofshieldedplugis connectedtoground(lower)terminalofvolt
19、meter.IftheModel410AVTVM isused,theprobeshouldbeplacedontheholderonthebackofthecompartment doorofthe410A.TheDiVIdershotlldbethenconnectedto thterminalsonhe frontofthecompartmetdoor.Connecttheprobeandgroundcliptotheshielded plugterminalsontheDividerwhenusingtheModel410B. 2.Settherangeswitchonvoltmete
20、rtohighrange. 3.Solidlygroundthebindingpostprojectingfromthelowerpartofthe Divider. 4.Connectgroundorneutralsideofvoltagetobemeasuredtobinding postprojectingfromthelowerpartoftheDiider. -3- 5.MAKECERTAINTHAT1Tf)LTAGEGENERATORISOFFANDTHAT ANYCAPACITORSAREDISCHA 6.Connectashortingstrapfromgroundtohigh
