19、moved.Ifthese sup plies are cooled by natural convection,theupright position istheonlyorientationrecommended.Iftheyare cooled by forced airoriftheheatsinkisremovedandthesupplyis mountedtoa heat-conducting surface,theymay bemounted inany position. 2-14InputPower Requirements 2-4Thischeckshouldconfirm

29、1TURN-ON CHECKOUT PROCEDURE 3-2The followingcheckoutprocedure servesasa brief checkthatthesupplyisoperational. This procedureorthe moredetailed performance testofparagraph 5-6 shouldbe followed whentheinstrumentisreceived and before itis connectedtoany load equipment. PREPARATION a. Before connectin

30、g input power, checkthatjumpers on terminalsE1throughE50fTB1areconnectedappro- priately fortheac supply voltagetobe used.(Seeparagraph 2-16.) b.Connectallremote sensing terminalstothecorres- pondingoutputterminals as showninFigure 3-1. c.Connectunittoinputpower source usingAC,N,and ground(4-)termina

31、ls ofTBt VOLTAGE CHECKS d. Checkthevoltageofthe5Voutputbetween terminals (+)and(-)onTB2and,usinga small screwdrivertoturn the VOLTAOJ control, settheoutputtothedesired value with- inits4.75to5.25V range. e.(Model633150only). Checkthevoltagesofthe positive and negative 11.4to15.75Voutputsby measuring

32、 from(+)toCOMMON RETURN and from COMMON RETURNto(-)on TB3. They should differ from each otherby no more than 2%. TurntheVOLT AOJ control tosettheseoutputstothe desired voltage. CURRENT LIMIT CHECKS f.Tochecktheoperationofthecurrentlimit circuit forthe5Voutput,connectthetestsetupshowninFigure 5-2toth

Repeat for the nega- tiveoutput.Toadjustthecurrentlimit settings, see para- graph 5-46. OVERVOLTAGE PROTECTION CHECKS h. Because the supplysoutputvoltagead

36、justmentranges are limited andtheovervoltage trip circuits arenotadjust- able, checking the overvoltage trip circuits requires the use ofan external power supply. The supply needed for check- ingtheovervoltagetripforthe5Voutputshouldbeableto supply 5to7 Vdcatacurrentofatleast 2 amps. To avoid causin

37、g damagetothesupplyundertest,theexternal supplys maximum availablecurrentshould be no morethan 5 amps. To checkthattheovervoltage trip circuit for the 5Voutputisoperational, energize the external supply and adjust itsoutputto7 volts. Energizethe63005Cor 633150supply andthenmomentarilyconnecttheoutpu

38、t oftheexternal supply across its 5Voutputterminals, nega- tivetonegative and positivetopositive. After disconnecting theexternal supply, check forthepresenceofvoltageatthe outputsofthesupplyundertest.Alloutputsshould beat zero volts. Oeenergizethesupply under test for 10 seconds andthenrestore powe

39、r. Checkthatalloutputshave return- edtonormal. i.(Model633150only). A similarmethodisused for checkingthe11.4to15.75VoutputsoftheModel633150. An external supplyisneededthatcan provide15to18 Vdc atacurrentofatleast0.5amps. Its maximum available currentshouldbenomorethan5 amps.Tocheck the over- voltag

40、e trip circuit forthepositive 11.4to15.75Voutput, energizetheexternal supply and adjust itsoutputto18 volts. Energize the633150supply andthenmomentarily connecttheoutputoftheexternal supply across the(+)and COMMON RETURNoutputterminals ofthe633150,posi- tivetopositive. After disconnecting the extern

41、al supply, checkthatalloutputsofthesupply undertesthave dropped tozero volts andthatdeenergizing the supply for 10 seconds restores theoutputstonormal. j.(Model633150only).Tochecktheovervoltage trip circuit forthenegative 11.4to15.75Voutput,repeat the procedure giveninstep(i)above,exceptconnecttheex

42、ter- nal supply acrossthe(-)and COMMON RETURNoutput terminals ofthe633150,negativetonegative. REMOTE SHUTDOWN k. Verifythatconnecting ajumperbetween terminals E6 and(-SEN) on TB2 reduces alloutputsofthesupply tozero volts andthatdisconnectingthejumperrestores all outputstotheir normal voltages. 3-3I

44、he ac line voltagetobeused. 3-5The following paragraphs discussthevarious opera- ting modes and features oftheModel63005Cand633150 supplies. Their 5Voutputscan be used with localorremote voltage sensing. The:1;11.4to15.75Voutputsofa Model 633150supply can be usedasa dualoutputsupplyingposi- tive and

45、 negative voltagesorthey can beconnectedtopro- vide a singleoutputproviding22.8to31.5volts. Localor remote sensing canbeused withboththedual and single load connections. The 5Voutputsoftwosingleoutputsupplies canbeconnectedinparallel andtwoormoreofthem can be connectedinseries. 3-6TheDCPower Supply

46、Handbook, Application Note 90A, contains a considerableamountofgeneral information on using regulated dc power supplies effectively andisavailableatno charge fromyourlocalHPsales office. 3-7Connectingloads 3-8Figure3-1showsthestrapping arrangement for connecting loadstothesupply using local voltage

47、sensing and supplyingtwoseparate loads from the 11.4to15.75V outputs.The positive (master) supply powers RL2andthe negative (slave) supply powers RL3.AstheVOLT AOJ control forthedualoutputsisadjusted,theslave supplys outputtracksthatofthemaster within2%.Either termi- nalofthe5Voutputandanyonetermina

48、l of the dual out- putmay be grounded, if desired, eitheratthe supplys ground ()terminaloratthe load. (See paragraph 3-12.) 3-2 TB3 +I-., Figure 32. 49、r1-)outputterminal may be grounded,asrequired. (See paragraph 3-12.) 3-10Each load should be connectedtotheproper sup- plyoutputterminals using separate pairsofconnecting wires. This will minimize mutual coupling effects between loads and will retain full advantageofthelowoutput impedanceofthesupply. Each pair of connecting wires should be asshortas possible, should beofadequately heavy gage, and should be twisted or shieldedtoreduce noise pickup.Ifshieldisused,connectoneendtothepower supply ground terminal and leave theotherendunconnected
