AMPLITUDE,Thisvariableresistorconrolstheamplitudeoftheoscil- latorvoltageadmittedtotheamplifierandthereforetheoutputvoltageofthein- strument.Thiscontroliscalibratedfrom110to100 ft

TheprocedureforoperatingtheModel200HWideBandAudIOOscillaor isasfollows: 1.Connecttheinstrumentpowercabletothepowerlineandtheoutput terminalstotheequipmentbeingtested. 2.TurnthepowerswitchtoONandallowaboutfiveminutes(thirtymin- utesormoretheextremeaccuracy)

16、fortheinstrumenttoreachoperalngtemper- ature.SettheFREQ.RANGEcontrolandthefrequencydialsothattheirindica- tionswhenmultipliedtogether,equalthedesiredfrequency.Forexample:RANGE controlsetatXI00timesthefrequencydlalsettingof606000cycles/sec. 3.SetAMPLITUDEcontrolforthedesiredoutputvoltage. TheModel200

17、Hshouldbeoperatedwithitsratedloadforbestresults. Theoscillatormaybeoperatedwithloadsotherthan100ohmswithoutdamage totheinstrument.Anyloadoflessthan100ohmswillcauseanincreaseindis,- tortionwhileloadsofgreaterthan100ohmswillresultinlesspoweroutput. CircuitDescription ThecircuitoftheModel200Hconsistsof

18、anoscillatorsection,anampli- fiersection,andaregulatedpowersupply o O. N TheoscillatorsectionincludesV 1andV2,andisbasicallyatwo-stage resistance-coupledamplifieroverwhichbothpositiveandnegativefeebackare applied.Thepositivefeedbacknetworkisafrequency-selectiveresistance- capacitancecombinationwhich

19、isusedtocontrolthefrequencyofoscillation. Negativefeedbackisusedtostabilizetheoperationofthecircuit.Themagni- tudeofthenegativefeedbackisdeterminedbyaresistancenetworkWhIChcontains anon-linearelementintheformofa3-wattincandescentlamp.Thiselement controlstheamountoffeedbackinaccordancewiththeamplitud

20、eofoscillation andconsequentlymaintainstheproperoperatingpointforthesystem. Theamplifiersectionisaconventionaltwostageaudioamplifier.Nega- tivefeedbackisusedinthiscircuittomimmizedistortionandtoprOVIdeauni- formfrequencyresponseovertheentirerangeoftheinstrument. Thepowersupplyincludesaconventionalfu

21、ll-waverectifierandavoltage- regulatingcircuit. -3- Maintenance CoverandBottomPlateRemoval- Theoverisremovedbyunscrewingtheeightscrewswhichfastenthe covertothetopadbackoftheinsument. Thbottomplateisremovedbyunscrewingthefourscrews,oneineach cornerofthebottomplate,Wh1Chfastentheplatetothechassis. Tub

22、eReplacement- Whenreplacinganyofthetubesexceptthepowerrectifier,itisdesirable tomeasurethedistortionintheoutput1fmaximumperformanceoftheinstrument isdesired,becauseapoortubecancauseexessivedist.ortionwithoutseemingly affectingtheoperation.Retainoriginaltubeinthesocketifreplacementdoes notimproveoper

23、ation. Distortion Exessivedisortlonintheoutputvoltageoftheoscillatormaybecaused byleakingcouplingcapacitors,defectivetubes,oropenby-passcapacitors. LubricationofTuningCapacitorDriveAssembly- Thetuningc.apacitordriveassemblyshouldbeoiledonceamonthifthe instrumentisinconstantuse,otherwiseonceeverysixm

24、onths. Thevernierdriveshaftbearingshouldhaveonedropofoilputoneach endofthebearing.SeeFg.2. VoltageRegulatorCircuitAdjustment- Whenatube(V5.V6orV7)hasbeenreplacedinthevoltageregulator circuit.thedIrectcurrentvoltagebetweenthejUK1lctlOnofR43.R44andthechas- sisshouldbemeasured.Ifthisvoltageisnot240volts.variableresistorR42 shouldbeadjustedtobringtheregulatedvol

26、tagebackto240volts.Theregulated voltageshouldalsobecheckedtoseethatitremainsat240voltswhenthepower supplyvoltageisvariedfrom105to125voltsor210to250volts.Iftheregu- latedvoltagedoesnotholdconstant,replacementofoneorallofthetubesinthe voltageregulatorciruitwillusuallybetheremedy. -.4- N o o :r: -J . .

27、 o . 1.11 N . o HumBalanceAdjustmentR46- Thisvariableresistorisusedtominimizethebeatbetweentheoscillator andthepowersupplyfrequency.Thisvariableresistor,whichislocatedas showninFig.2,isadjustedforminimumbeatbetweentheoscillatorandpower supplyfrequency.Theoscillatorshouldbetunedtothepowersupplyfreque

28、ncy. ReplacementofLampR19- The10-wattlampR19ISoperatedataverylowlevelandshouldhavea, almostinfinitelife.Therefore,thelampshouldnotbechangedmdiscriminately. However,shouldthelamprequirechanging,itisnecessarytohekhealterna tingcurrentvoltagefromthejunctionofR29andC9tothechassiswiththenew lampinthecirc

29、uit.Asmeasuredwithahigh-impedancevacuumube0 .meter, thisvoltageshouldbewithintherangeofapproximately18-22voltswhenthe Model200Histunedto1000cps.Ifthevoltageisnotwithinthisrange,itmay becorrectedbyadjustingR25.Ifthevoltagecannotbebroughtwithintherange from18-22voltsbymeansofR25,thenewlampshouldbereje
