5、ions The type plate is located at the rear of the system. For users in the U.K.: please follow the instructions on page 1-9. APower Before connecting the AC power cord to the wall outlet, ensure that all other connections have been made. WARNING! For optimal performance, use only the original power

6、cable. Never make or change any connections with the power switched on. To avoid overheating of the system, a safety circuit has been built in. Therefore, your system may switch to Standby mode automatically under extreme conditions. If this happens, let the system cool down before reusing it (not a

7、vailable for all versions). BAntennas Connection Connect the supplied AM loop antenna and FM antenna to the respective terminals. Adjust the position of the antenna for optimal reception. AM Antenna Position the antenna as far as possible from a TV, VCR or other radiation source. Preparations FM Ant

8、enna For better FM stereo reception, connect an outdoor FM antenna to the FM ANTENNA terminal. CSpeakers Connection Front Speakers Connect the speaker wires to the SPEAKERS terminals, right speaker to R and left speaker to L, coloured (marked) wire to + and black (unmarked) wire to -. 12 Fully inser

9、t the stripped portion of the speaker wire into the terminal as shown. Notes: For optimal sound performance, use the supplied speakers. Do not connect more than one speaker to any one pair of +/- speaker terminals. Do not connect speakers with an impedance lower than the speakers supplied. Please re

10、fer to the SPECIFICATIONS section of this manual. Optional connection The optional equipment and connecting cords are not supplied. Refer to the operating instructions of the connected equipment for details. Connecting other equipment to your system Use a cinch cable to connect AUX/CDR IN to the ana

11、logue audio out terminals of an external equipment (TV, VCR, Laser Disc player, DVD player or CD Recorder). Note: If you are connecting equipment with a mono output (a single audio out terminal), connect it to the AUX/CDR IN left terminal. Alternatively, you can use a “single to double” cinch cable

12、(the output sound still remain mono). Inserting batteries into the remote control Insert two batteries type R03 or AAA (not supplied) into the remote control with the correct polarity as indicated by the + and - symbols inside the battery compartment. CAUTION! Remove batteries if they are exhausted

13、or will not be used for a long time. Do not use old and new or different types of batteries in combination. Batteries contain chemical substances , so they should be disposed off properly. Then select the d

Important notes for users in the U.K. Mains plug This apparatus is fitted with an approved 13 Amp plug. To change a fuse in this type of plug proceed as follows: 1Remove fuse

27、cover and fuse. 2Fix new fuse which should be a BS1362 5 Amp, A.S.T.A. or BSI approved type. 3Refit the fuse cover. If the fitted plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted in its place. If the mains plug contains a fuse, this should have a valu

28、e of 5 Amp. If a plug without a fuse is used, the fuse at the distribution board should not be greater than 5 Amp. Note: These vered plug must be disposed of to avoid a possible shock hazard should it be inserted into a 13 Amp socket else where. How to connect a plug The wires in the mains lead are

29、coloured with the following code: blue = neutral (N), brown = live (L). As these colours ma y not cor respond with the colour mar kings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: Connect the blue wire to the terminal marked N or coloured black. Connect the brown wire to the terminal

30、 marked L or coloured red. Do not connect either wire to the earth terminal in the plug, marked E (or e) or coloured green (or green and yellow). Before replacing the plug cover, make certain that the cord grip is clamped over the sheath of the lead - not simply over the two wires. Copyright in the

34、cumstances should you try to repair the system yourself, as this will invalidate the warranty. Do not open the system as there is a risk of electric shock. If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the system for repair. If you are unable to solve a problem by following th

35、ese hints, consult your dealer or service centre. ProblemSolution CD OPERATION “NO DISC” is displayed.Insert a disc. Check if the disc is inserted upside down. Wait until the moisture condensation at the lens has cleared. Replace or clean the disc, see “Maintenance”. “DISC NOT FINALIZED” is displaye

36、d.Use a finalised CD-RW or CD-R. Troubleshooting Maintenance Cleaning the Cabinet Use a soft cloth slightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use a solution containing alcohol, spirits, ammonia or abrasives. Cleaning Discs When a disc becomes dirty, clean it with a cleaning cloth. Wip

37、e the disc from the centre out. Do not use solvents such as benzene, thinner, commercially available cleaners, or antistatic spray intended for analogue records. Cleaning the disc lens After prolonged use, dirt or dust may accumulate at the disc lens. To ensure good playback quality, clean the disc

38、lens with Philips CD Lens Cleaner or any commercially available cleaner. Follow the instructions supplied with cleaner. Cleaning the Heads and the Tape Paths To ensure good recording and playback quality, clean the heads A, the capstan(s) B, and pressure roller(s) C after every 50 hours of tape oper

39、ation. Use a cotton swab slightly moistened with cleaning fluid or alcohol. You can also clean the heads by playing a cleaning tape once. CCBBA Demagnetising the heads Use a demagnetising tape available at your dealer. RADIO RECEPTION Radio reception is poor .If the signal is too weak, adjust the an

40、tenna or connect an external antenna for better reception. Increase the distance between the Mini HiFi System and your TV or VCR. TAPE OPERATION/RECORDING Recording or playback cannot be made.Clean deck parts, see “Maintenance”. Use only NORMAL (IEC I) tape. Apply a piece of adhesive tape over the m

41、issing tab space. The ta pe deck door cannot open.Remo ve and reconnect the AC power plug and switch on the system again. GENERAL The system does not react whenRemove and reconnect the AC power plug and buttons are pressed.switch on the system again. Sound cannot be heard or is of poorAdjust the vol

42、ume . quality.Disconnect the headphones. Check that the speakers are connected correctly. Check if the stripped speaker wire is clamped. Troubleshooting MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING 1-10 2-12-1 DISMANTLING INSTRUCTIONS 1) Loosen the 4 screws, slide Cover top (pos 255) towar

46、ds the rear and remove it upwards. 2) Loosen 3 screws slide the Panel right (pos 254) towards the rear and remove it outwards. Do likewise for the Panel left (pos 253). 3) Push the gear slowly towards the front as shown in figure 2 until the CDC tray starts to move out of the Front Cabinet (pos 101)

47、. The CDC tray is now disengage and can be pulled out completely. Dismantling the 3CDC Module 4) Remove the Cover Tray (pos 106) as shown in figure 1. 5) Loosen 4 screws A to remove the CDC Module (pos 1104) as shown in figure 2. 48、 Figure 2 Figure 1 Dismantling of the Volume & Jog Rotary knobs 1) Cut a piece of packaging tape approximately 5cm width by 12cm length and tape its narrow side on to the top and bottom side of the Volume knob (pos 139) as shown in figure 3. Dismantling of the Front Panel assembly 1) Loosen 2 screws below the Front Panel (pos 101) mounting it to the Bottom plate (pos 265). 2) Release the 2 catches on the sides of the Front Panel to separate it from the Bottom plate. 3) Remove the Volume and Jog Rotary knob if the Front board needs to be dismantled.
