2、nnounce that Harman Consumer Group has begun offering web based training sessions for some of our more complex product technologies in the near future. The training is in the form of a 1-hour party line training session in which you can interact with Andy directly to ask questions and offer comments
3、 regarding the topic being discussed. The first training session that we are currently offering covers the BASH amplifiers used
4、 in the Interlude Series subwoofers. Technical Bulletins of Note We have one new service bulletin to talk about in this edition. It addresses issues with the laser pick-up assembly in the DVD25. There is a new pick-up mechanism for use with this unit. Should you need to replace the laser pick-up for
5、 models between the serial number range of WA0002-01000 and WA0002-10677, use H/K part number KIT710 (mechanism assembly), H/K part number WLD6.672.710R500 (kit of ribbon cables, hardware and cushions), and H/K part number WLD6.672.853C-6 (replacement connector PC board). DVD25 models of serial numb
6、er WA0002- 10678 and higher will already have the modification. If the laser pick-up of these units needs to be replaced, then H/K part number WLD5.018.011XX is all that is needed. Detailed instructions regarding the replacement of the new mechanism assembly are detailed in the Harman Kardon service
7、 bulletin number H/K2003- 06. You can find this bulletin, and all service information directly from the Harman Service website at . Tech Tips of Note Many subwoofer designs available today utilize BASH amplifiers. If you are working on a BASH subwoofer amplifier that is exhibiting low distortion or
8、Hum, then you may want to check out the +/- 15 Volt OP amp supply. If there is more than +/- 0.7 Volts variance, then this could be the cause. If you are working on an AVR receiver with the symptom of shutting down seconds after power-up, then check the amp boards at the Bias Transistor. An oval hol
9、e is cut into the PC board for the three leads to pass through. Check to see that the board is not cracked adjacent to the hole, causing tinned leads to break. This has been noted with the AVR65 receiver but could also apply to other models that may have the same oval hole stamped on the amp board.

David Gilbert, the senior technician at ABL Electronics in Madison Heights, Michigan, wrote in about an issue regarding distorted audio found with an AVR310 receiver. He found resistor R482, a 10 ohm 2 watt resistor at the input of Q48
15、2 had opened. This was caused by C123, a surface mounted capacitor located on the DSP board, which had shorted. Thanks for the tip, David. 25、nter Survey is live! As of the end of September, we have received over 300 survey results from consumers rating their experience with you, our service centers. All are welcome to view the results of this survey directly at . Please keep in mind that some of you may not see survey results for your fa
26、cilities yet. This is not an error. It simply means that we have not yet received customer surveys for your business. Return Authorizations Under special circumstances, we may authorize an exchange of a unit if a repair cannot be completed when the product is out of warranty. Please remember that th
27、ese Return Authorizations do not negate service charges the customer would normally be required to pay for out-of-warranty products, unless pre-arranged by Harman Consumer Group. A Service Authorization is required for any exceptions. If a product is exchanged and still within warranty, then a warra
28、nty claim may be submitted to Service Bench. If a reasonable effort was made to repair the product, you will be reimbursed for all applied parts and half the standard labor rate, but no less than $15.00 for labor. The document contains expected standards and policies regarding Parts, Service, and Warranty, and could help clarify certain issues with regards to authorizations and payments. Invalid Model/Serial Number Its important to make sure that the model number is listed
30、 correctly on every warranty claim. Slight variations in a model version could cause problems with submitting your claim. For example, if you submit a warranty claim for a JBL S312 Series II, the model number should be S312II. Another example is the JBL DVD600 or DVD600II. Using the wrong version fo
31、r the model number will result in an Invalid Serial Number error. The most common cause for an Invalid Model Number error is the wrong manufacturer selected on the claim. Before you change the model to correct this problem, make sure that you have selected the correct manufacturer and always make su
32、re you copy the serial number exactly as it appears on the unit. Please keep these potential errors in mind. It could certainly save a bit of time in the long run.
