Disassembly of the CDR-882 DualBurn by an untrained operative could
、cause severe damage to the unit, and will invalidate the CDR-882 DualBurn warranty. It is essential that all normal electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection procedures are carefully followed. Damage caused by ESD will not be covered by any warranty. During reassembly, check that all cables are recon
、nected and are in the correct sockets. This manual contains sections on disassembly/assembly, firmware updates and known faults. Throughout this manual, part numbers are enclosed in square brackets (for example P8202). Please note that only a few component parts are available for the printed circuit
、 boards (PCB) as changing a majority of the PCB components is not considered practical for field service. If faults occur, it is likely the whole PCB will have to be replaced. Tools Normal workshop tools for work on small electronic assemblies are required. Notes For your own safety, the mains power
、 cord should be removed before disassembly takes place. No part of this manual may be reproduced or copied. HHB Communications Ltd. 21、sassembly is explained in this section. 2.1 Lid removal For a majority of service operations it will be necessary to remove the lid. 1. First remove all the screws that hold the lid to the chassis. There are four screws on the top (labelled as “A” in Figure 2.1-1), three screws on each side (labelle
、d as “B” and C” in Figure 2.1-2) and seven screws on the rear (labelled as “D” in Figure 2.1-3). Figure 2.1-1: Remove the four screws on the top Figure 2.1-2: Remove the six screws on the sides Figure 2.1-3: Remove the seven screws on the rear 2. Slide the lid horizontally away from the front panel
、to unlock the lid (as in Figure 2.1-4). Lift vertically away from the chassis to remove it completely. First carefully disconnect the data and power cables connected to the back of
、the drives (“A” and “B” in Figure 2.2-1, also see Figure 2.2-2). Figure 2.2-1: Data and power cables on the back of the drive Figure 2.2-2: Bus and power cables removal from the drive 2. Also carefully disconnect the cables from the motherboard (“C” and “D” in Figure 2.2-3, also see Figure 2.2-4). F

To remove the power cables for drive 1, cut the tie to release the cables from the bottom of the chassis (Figure 2.2-5). This tie
、 should be re-fitted when reassembling the unit. Figure 2.2-5: Cut tie holding the power cables for drive 1 4. Remove all twelve screws holding the drives (and brackets) to the bottom of the chassis (”E” in Figure 2.2-7). To reach the two screws near the power switch, a long thin screwdriver is need
、ed as access to the screw is restricted (Figure 2.2-6). Figure 2.2-6: How to reach the screw under the power switch. The MTBF (mean time before failure) for this model is 80,085 at 25% duty cycle and room temperature. It should be replaced if faulty. CDR-882 Service Manual
