2、 to enabl e a facil itys tel ephone system to be used to make audio announcements over its paging system. The TAMB2 wil l interface to anal og l oop start and ground start trunk ports as wel l as anal og ring- up station l ines. I t provides a means of connecting an external audio or music source th

3、at wil l pl ay over the paging system when no pages are in progress. A set of contacts are provided to signal external equipment of the TAMB2s operational status. Various DI P switches and control s provide a wide range of fl exibil ity over how the access modul e wil l operate. The TAMB2 can be mou

10、y Int erference This unit generates and uses radio frequency energy and if not in- stal l ed and used in strict accordance with the manufacturer s in- structions, may cause interference to radio and tel evision reception. Testing is being conducted for compl iance with the l imits for a Cl ass B dev

11、ice in accordance with the specifications in Part 15 of the FCC Rul es and Canadian D. O. C. regul ations. This testing is designed to provide reasonabl e protection against such interference. However, there is no guarantee that interference wil l not occur in a particul ar instal l ation. I f this

12、equipment does cause interference to radio or tel - evision reception, which can be determined by turning the unit off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the fol l owing measures: - Reorient the radio or TV receiving antenna. - Rel ocate the unit with

13、 respect to the radio or TV receiver or vice versa. - Pl ug the unit into a different outl et so that it and the radio or TV receiver are on different branch circuits. I f necessary, the user shoul d consul t the deal er or an experienced radio/ tel evision technician for additional suggestions. The

16、 not be used with Coin Tel ephone Lines. Equipment may be used with Party Lines in areas where state tariffs permit such connections and when equipment is adaptabl e for such service. 17、roubl e is experienced, the equipment shoul d be disconnected from the interface to determine if this equipment, or the tel ephone l ine, is the troubl e source. I f the equipment is determined to be mal func- tioning, it shoul d not be reconnected until repairs are effected. Repairs to this equipme

18、nt, other than routine repairs, can be made onl y by the manufacturer or its authorized agents. I f the equipment causes harm to the tel ephone network, the l ocal tel ephone company may temporaril y discontinue your service and, if possibl e, notify you in advance. I f advance notice is not practic

19、al , you wil l be notified as soon as possibl e. You wil l be given the opportunity to correct the probl em and informed of your right to fil e a compl aint with the FCC. The l ocal tel ephone company may make changes in its facil ities, operations, or procedures that coul d affect the proper functi

20、oning of your equipment. I f they do, you wil l be given adequate notice in writ- ing to al l ow you an opportunity to maintain uninterrupted tel ephone service. Import ant Safet y Informat i on Al ways fol l ow these basic safety precautions when instal l ing and using the system: 1. Read and under

21、stand al l instructions. 2. Fol l ow al l warnings and instructions marked on the product. 3. DO NOT bl ock or cover the ventil ation sl ots and openings. They prevent the product from overheating. DO NOT pl ace the product in a separate encl osure or cabinet, unl ess proper ventil ation is provided

22、. 4. Never spil l l iquid on the product or drop objects into the ventil a- tion sl ots and openings. Doing so may resul t in serious damage to the components. 5. Repair or service must be performed by a factory authorized re- pair facil ity. 6. The product is provided with a UL- CSA approved, 3- wi

23、re ground type pl ug. This is a safety feature. DO NOT defeat the safety pur- pose of the grounding type pl ug. DO NOT stapl e or otherwise at- tach the AC power suppl y cord to buil ding surfaces. 7. DO NOT use the product near water or in a wet or damp pl ace ( such as a wet basement) . 8. DO NOT

24、use extension cords. The product must be instal l ed within 6 feet of a grounded outl et receptacl e. 9. DO NOT instal l tel ephone wiring during a l ightning storm. 10. DO NOT instal l tel ephone jacks in a wet l ocation unl ess the jack is specifical l y designed for wet l ocations. 11.Never touch

28、ing: The TAMB2 provides a 24V DC tal k battery on its T ( tip) and R ( ring) terminal s. When it detects a DC l oop current fl ow through these terminal s, it wil l activate. Upon activation, it wil l produce an announcement tone and connect in the paging ampl ifier through an isol ation transformer

29、. The announcement tone can be set to be heard onl y at the paging phone or at both the phone and over the paging system. The TAMB2 al l ows bi- directional audio, both to and from the paging equipment ( in the case of tal kback paging equipment) . Disconnection of the page happens when the l oop st

30、art trunk goes on hook and l oop current fl ow stops. I n this mode, the TAMB2 responds to the status of the l oop current fl ow and general l y no timers are needed to control when it disconnects. However, a Trunk Timer feature is provided that can hel p prevent accidental l ock- up of the paging s

31、ystem ( see features description bel ow) . Station Port I nterfacing: The TAMB2 answers the station port after it detects high vol tage ( 90V) ring on the l ine. The unit can be set to answer the cal l immediatel y or after the end of the first ring burst. Once answered, the unit provides an announc

32、ement tone and con- nects the tel ephone l ine to the paging ampl ifier through an iso- l ation transformer. The announcement tone can be set to be heard onl y at the paging phone or at both the phone and over the paging system. The TAMB2 al l ows bi- directional audio, both to and from the paging e

33、quipment ( in the case of tal k- back paging equipment) . Since the TAMB2 cannot directl y determine the state of the cal l ing partys phone, it must use indirect methods to determine when to disconnect. Discon- nection of the TAMB2 from the cal l is control l ed through 3 methods. 1) A defaul t tim

34、er wil l drop the cal l after a preset amount of time has el apsed ( 1- 200 seconds) , 2) A VOX timer wil l drop the cal l after it detects no audio for a preset amount of time ( 1- 11 seconds) , 3) The unit wil l immediatel y drop the l ine if it detects a CPC pul se ( break in l oop current) from

35、the PBX/ CO port. Any of these disconnection methods can be in- hibited, however at l east one must be enabl ed to ensure that the TAMB2 wil l disconnect. Ground Start I nterfacing: I n addition to the tip and ring connections to this port, an additional connection between the TAMB2s G/ S terminal a

36、nd the PBX ground must be establ ished. When idl e, the TAMB2 opens an internal rel ay contact in series with its T ( tip) terminal , and monitors for l oop current fl owing in its R ( ring) terminal . When the PBX grounds the TAMB2s R terminal , l oop current fl ows and is detected. The TAMB2 respo

37、nds by cl osing the rel ay contact in series with its T terminal . Once this connection is establ ished, the TAMB2 wil l produce an announcement tone and connect in the paging ampl ifier through an isol ation trans- former. The announcement tone can be set to be heard onl y at the paging phone or at

38、 both the phone and over the paging system.The TAMB2 al l ows bi- directional audio, both to and from the paging equipment ( in the case of tal kback paging equipment) . Disconnection of the page happens when the ground start trunk goes on hook and l oop current stops. I n this mode, the TAMB2 respo

39、nds to the status of the l oop current fl ow and general l y no timers are needed to control when it dis- connects. However, a Trunk Timer feature is provided that can hel p prevent accidental l ock- up of the paging system ( see features description bel ow) . Trunk Timer Feature: When interfacing t

40、o either l oop or ground start trunks, a Trunk Timer feature can be enabl ed which wil l interrupt l oop current fl ow to the PBX port for 1 second after either the VOX or Defaul t time has expired. I n many PBX systems this break in l oop current wil l cause the connection between the TAMB2 and the

41、 cal l ing station to be cl eared, al l owing another cal l er to access the paging system. This is designed to protect the paging system from a phone that may have been hung up incorrectl y and is l ocking out access to the paging system. I n addition to enabl ing this feature, the Defaul t time pe

42、riod must be set and/ or the VOX timer must be enabl ed and its time set. Both timers do not have to be used, but at l east one must be enabl ed for this feature to work. 43、NK PAGE OUT PTPR G/STR 600-ohm Balanced Input STATION/ TRUNK PAGE OUT PTPR G/STR Hi-Z Unbalanced Input Impedance-Matching Transformer WMT1A Bal anced I nput Wiring: The TAMB2 was designed to connect to a 600- ohm bal - anced TEL input. The ampl ifiers input sensitivity shoul d be high enough that wi

44、th 200mV input signal , the amp wil l be abl e to produce its ful l rated output power. I f input sensitivity is not high enough, try using an unbal anced input with a WMT1A transformer ( as shown bel ow) . Unbal anced, Hi- Z I nput Wiring: Wiring to an unbal anced Hi- Z or AUX input normal l y requ

45、ires the use of a WMT1A trans- former. The output l evel s of the TAMB2 general l y cannot drive this type of input to ful l rated power since the AUX input is l ess sensitive than the special ized TEL inputs. The WMT1A provides about a 5X vol tage increase in the amps input. Wiring to the ground st

46、art trunk port requires a connection between the TAMB2s G/ S terminal and the ground of the PBX. The AC chassis ground for the PBX can typical l y be used for this connection. 48、ing the TAMB2 in ground start trunk mode with a music source that uses a 3- prong grounded pl ug, it may be necessary to use WMT1A transformers to isol ate the music sources outputs from the TAMB2s music inputs. The music sources signal ground, which may be connected to the the AC l ine ground, coul

49、 d create an el ec- trical short with the connection from the TAMB2s G/ S terminal to the PBX ground ( which is typical l y the AC ground for the PBX) causing the TAMB2 not to function.
