7、aileddiskwithanewoneorunplugandplugbackthefaileddisk,andrebuildRAIDarraywillsolvetheproblem(seehowtorebuildRAIDarraysection).Initialize/ConfiguretheRAIDArray1) WhenisRAIDarrayinitializationneededWhentheRAIDarrayisinvalidorwhentwoormoreoftheHDDsarereplaced,reinitializationoftheRAIDarrayisrequired.But

8、theinitializationwilldestroyalldatapreviouslystoredonthedisksandiscompletelyirreversible!2) HowtoinitializeandconfigureRAIDarrayMakesurealltheharddisksarehealthy. Powerontheunit PressresetbuttonattherearpanelsoonaftertheharddiskLEDsstartstoflash PressresetbuttonagainaftertheLEDsflash20timesafterthea

9、bovestep.Afterthisstep,alltheHDDLEDsbecomesteadyblue.Atthispoint,allthedataintheharddisksarelostandtheunithastobeformatted. PartitionandformattheunitRebuild1) WhenisRAIDarrayrebuildneededIfoneandonlyoneoftheharddisksiseithermissingorfails,i.e.thatharddisksLEDbecomessteadyredorflashingred,theunitRAID

10、arrayneedsrebuild.Iftwoormorethantwoharddisksfail,RAIDarraycantberebuiltandthedataintheunitwillbelost.Atthispoint,tocontinueusetheunit,youwillhavetoreplaceallthebroken/failedharddisksandreinitializetheRAIDarray.2) HowtorebuildaRAIDarraywithsamehealthyHDDintheunitThiscasehappenswhenonehealthyHDDisrem

11、ovedandthenputbackatthesameposition. Powerdowntheunit UnplugonehealthyHDD Poweruptheunituntilitssteady(2HDDsLEDblue,unpluggedHDDLEDred)thisstepleavestheunitindegradedmode Powerdowntheunit PlugtheHDDback PoweruptheunitthisstepwillrebuildtheRAIDarrayoftheunit3) HowtorebuildaRAIDarraywithanewhealthyHDD

12、ThiscasehappenswhenoneHDDisreplacedwithanewhealthyHDD. Powerdowntheunit Removethefailed/brokenharddisk Replaceitwithanewhealthyharddisk Powerbackontheunit.PressthetinyresetbuttonattherearpanelafterHDDLEDsflashes22times.ThiswillstarttheRAIDarrayrebuild.Duringrebuild,thenewHDDLEDwillbeflashingblueandt

13、herestLEDsaresteadyblue.NOTE:1) “newhealthyharddisk”ItmustbeatleastthesizeofthesmallestdiskusedwhenthesetofRAIDdiskswascreated.Diskwithidenticalcapacityastheothertwoisrecommended,withthebestoptionofmatchingthesamemodelnumberoftheothertwodisks.Itcouldbeabrandnewharddiskboughtfromstoreorusedoneaslonga

14、sitishealthy,couldbeeitherformattedorunformatted,couldhaveexistingdataorempty,butitmustNEVERbeusedbyotherRAIDdevicebefore.IftheHDDisusedbyotherRAIDdevicebefore,makesuretoWIPEthelastfewsectorsoftheHDDwheretheRAIDinformationisstored.* example to wipe the last 2MB or less of a 1TB HDD that is connected

18、ofdisksisremoved.Whileindegradedmode,theunitcontinuestooperatewithoutlossofdata,storagecapacity,orperformance.However,theunitisnolongersecureandwillsufferdatalossifoneormorediskfails.2) OneoftheHDDLEDflashesbluefor1or2minuteafterpowerup.Whatisitdoingandwhy?TheshorttimeLEDflashmeansthecorrespondingHD
